Also on Friday evening, we have one match in League 1, two in the Wales Prem, and the opening five games in The 2019 Ireland Prem.

One journo has labeled this the "least appetizing" fifth round ever. I see it more significantly as a consequence of the so called bigger clubs' lack of interest in the tournament. The fixture format doesn't help either. Eight ties, spread out over 4 days? Rot. That kind of scheduling (on the increase year by year) takes away the heart of the FA Cup, the sudden-deathness of it, the one once-special day when all clubs left in it (and their fans) knew their fate and their competitors' fates too, when all games kicked off and finished simultaneously, none of this compartmentalized 4 day TV crap. It's getting like The Oscars of football. Pretty soon a tie like Swansea v Brentford will be played while the extended goddamn commercials are on, and we'll get five minutes action, five minutes of ads, five minutes of action, five minutes of ads, until the ref blows up.
Anyway, the book : Man City 5/4 Chelsea 11/2 Man Utd 6/1 Wolves 8/1 Palace 10/1 Watford 16/1 Brighton 20/1 Derby 66/1 Bristol City, Swansea, Brentford, Millwall 100/1 QPR 200/1 AFC Wimbledon 250/1 Doncaster 500/1 Newport 750/1

...should add that personally I'm happy to see the lower league clubs reach this stage. It gives them funds. I just object to the scheduling and some of the more wealthy clubs' blasΓ© approach to it.

I think it's great having a lot of non-prem sides through. Games of the round for me: Newport - Man City Bristol City - Wolfs One good thing about the staggered starts... I get to enjoy live commentary of nearly every fixture of the round on the wireless π

Watford through to the quarter finals last night then.
First up today... Brighton - Derby at 12:30pm.
I've a bit of a soft spot for the Seagulls, so them for the win for me π
Plenty of other EFL and Scotch league action today, as well as the second Irn Bru Scottish Challenge Cup semi-final between Connahs Quay and Edinburgh City this evening. Could very likely be the Taffs that make it to the final against Ross County.

Seagulls take the lead π
Sounds like Brighton are letting Derby come forward, winning the ball, then exploiting the gaps behind Derby on the break.

Early lead for the Lions... 0-1. watched the first half, we look awful. If AFC had a decent strike force they'd have got a couple.

We were awful, but you can see why AFC are where they are, desperately in need of a couple of decent finishers. Pity as they have some half decent playmakers.
