American film director, screenwriter, and producer. Mankiewicz had a long Hollywood career, and he twice won the Academy Award for both Best Director and Best Writing, Screenplay for A Letter to Three Wives 1949 and All About Eve 1950. Mankiewicz worked for seventeen years as a screenwriter for Paramount Pictures and as a producer for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer before getting a chance to direct at Twentieth Century-Fox. During his long career in Hollywood, Mankiewicz wrote forty-eight screenplays. He also produced more than twenty films including The Philadelphia Story 1940 I've concentrated this on his career as a director, putting in a poll that is not mandatory, if anyone would rather like to discuss his movies feel free to do so. As a whole I must say that his movies are generally high in quality with fantastic screenplays that sometimes takes more than one look to really grip, that is at least my personal feeling. Especially for me who uses subtitles, where all the wit can disappear with lousy translations. To make it a bit interesting, I've put the movies in the order of most ratings to least ratings from our old site, as it gives a sort of indication of what movie that is most known to least known, and not how they are rated. It can also indicate availability offcourse The one who has most ratings have 105.474 raters and the one with least have 238 raters. To give everyone a bit of slack you can vote for up to 8 movies, but you are offcourse allowed to discuss how many movies you like.

Thanks for your post wmcclain For some reason when I click on the movie's name I usually get your insightful and interesting reviews, but this time I only get back to my own post. This problem has been solved!
