Catwoman had a bad weekend starting Saturday evening after Catman went home for the night. Won't gross you out with the details, but she has c-diff and some minor heart problems. She was confused enough on Sunday that she did not recognize her PCP who had rounds that morning. Catman did not get in to see her because of the weather, but when he finally got her on her cell phone, she was still a bit confused. She thought they had moved her to a different room since she was in isolation, but the rooms are set up to be isolation rooms when need be.
This morning Catman got to put on the standard hazard gown and gloves. At first Catwoman was asleep, and when she woke up, she wasn't quite sure who Catman was, but after a short while, she figured it out. She slept most of the day except when the nurses came in to give her medications, and she was also awake when the wound care nurses came by at 3 PM. They left it uncovered and the floor nurses were to wrap it when they got some different bandaging supplies up from stores.
Catman took a peek, and the wound itself isn't all that spectacular, but her leg is still completely covered in bruising. Overall, not as bad as it could be.
And just FYI: Those hazard gowns are quite toasty. A nice thing to need to wear in the winter, but Catman would melt if it were summer. Still, better than possibly spreading c-diff to other patients on the floor.

Thanks for the updates, Catman 猫的主人 …. despite what some think. cyber friends ARE REAL and we do worry about our friends and their off-line families!
Consulting the books for the ingredients for the anti-c-diff spell... some of this stuff is hard to get legally but get it we shall , by hook or by crook !

So early this morning Catwoman was not doing well with the oxygen levels in her blood, so they moved her to the ICU. By the time Catman got there (around 9:30), she was doing well enough that they were planning to move her to a regular room. They had not been able to do so by the time Catman left late this afternoon.
Today she had her first PT session. With great effort, she was able to finally sit up, and she almost stood up. Not quite there yet.
Tonight there's supposed to be a major snow storm, so whether Catman gets to the hospital is in question, but time will tell.

Oh, Catman, I'm so sorry this has happened to you and Catwoman. Given the weather, though, she is where she needs to be for the best of care; they have back-up generators. Stay safe, I hope this storm is not as bad as the last few. I'm fairly stocked up, and have wood for the stove - got to keep the kitties warm.

I hope Catwoman's stay in the hospital is brief and therapeutic.

Today the surgeon and GP signed Catwoman over to the infectious disease doctor. In addition to the c-diff, she also has non-infectious pneumonia, so she'll stay in the hospital until the treatment has run its course. The earliest she'll be released is Monday. The hospital social worker is making arrangements for rehab upon release ... exactly which facility won't be known until Monday since it all depends who has an opening at the right time. Fortunately, there are four local facilities plus the hospital rehab ward, so odds are she'll be in town.
Meanwhile, Catman and the kitties cope as best they can.

I was hoping you would post an update, Catman. Do you still have to wear the Level 4 Biohazard suit to see her? That has to suck bigtime. I have friends in an infectious disease unit - they work there - all the emerging new bugs are keeping them busy. I hope Catwoman is comfortable and getting better every day. My mother is in a care facility, and she has been treated for pneumonia twice, already. I scrub my hands and spray Lysol on my purse after I visit her. Those infectious diseases can be really bad!

Yeah, I figured... I read up on the c-diff - yikes, that's one I had not yet heard of. When Catwoman comes home, get her a big bottle of garlic pills, the liqui-gel kind, and give her a pill with every meal. An infectious disease specialist once told me that it's no secret, that garlic is anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal. They just can't prove it with a double-blind study because it's evident who is getting the real stuff! Also, add garlic to her food, some cooked, some raw. I put it in damn near everything I eat. It will boost her immune system. I add garlic to soup, roasted vegetables, veggie burgers and sandwiches. My dear old dad used to say, "An apple a day will keep the doctor away, an onion a day will keep EVERYONE away!" Garlic does that, too, and it's good for you. And it's a food - you can't really overdose on it. I know, my internist rolls his eyes, too, but I've stayed pretty healthy for someone who has lived through chemotherapy!
