Occasionally, I would like to re-visit an old thread. OK, OK--they're threads I started! LOL
But I find that "surfing" through 120 pages is usually fruitless.
Is there a quicker way to locate a certain thread?

Hi snsurone, If you click on your own username (“snsurone”) in blue, above where it says “senior member,” you’ll get to a new page, where there should be a link that says “Recent Threads.” Despite the word “recent,” that has all the threads you’ve ever started.

If you are looking for someone else's thread, look up to the blue line of choices at the top of the screen. From left to right they go: Home Help Search,,,
Click search and enter keyword terms. Voila! This feature actually works!

This is interesting. I tried it for myself and it works perfectly. I had no idea how many threads I had started (OPed) but when I use the method described above, they were all lined up clear back to February of 2017. AND, once a thread is accessed, one can even look at all the replies to the OP. Thanks, I learned something..

If you are looking for someone else's thread, look up to the blue line of choices at the top of the screen. From left to right they go: Home Help Search,,, Click search and enter keyword terms. Voila! This feature actually works! This is interesting too. For example, If you want to see all of the Garth Games posted from February 2017 to present (as well as the responses to those threads) all one has to do is look down the line to find a mattgarth id and click it. It says all recent threads, but goes why back to the date that this board became active. It's important to distinguish between recent posts and recent threads.
Threads tell you what threads were started (ie, OPed). Posts tell you what posts were posted (from most recent to least recent)...quite a difference. This is interesting in that it even covers other Boards (not just the classic film Borad). That is, it covers, games and triva, politics, etc. For example, I have often enjoyed, BATouttaheck threads about images (for example, Find me a ___ in a screenshot) or spiderwort's threads about movies related to a certain concept, etc. (for example, Films about friendships).
Does this mean that once a thread or post is created by someone, it will last forever, even if the creator would like to get ride of it? No. Why? Because, the creator can go back and delete something he or she wishes he or she had never created in the first place. These are good tools. And they can always be deleted by the post or thread "owner poster" himself. So, they are, as it were, protected by the "owner" of the post or thread...and ONLY the post or thread "owner." No one else. For example, *I* can NOT delete someone else's post or thread; they, themselves are the only people allowed to do that.

Not quite correct.... If you start a thread and it gets irreparably hijacked or destroyed in some other manner … the OP can delete (or edit) the parent post but the replies will remain (unless they too are deleted by their posters). Example... Jan 1, 2018 a Happy New Year Thread was started and the first reply was a political rant Not wanting to start the year off on that particular note, the original post was deleted and only the rant remained. A new Happy New Year thread was started and the images of fireworks and exchange of well wishes were enjoyed by all. The ranter never even noticed that the thread had died.
edit .. if you ask them nicely the admin or moderators can and will sometimes delete a thread or change the OP Title.

If you OP a thread, and someone else quotes your OP to make a comment on it, and you want to delete the whole thread, what happens to the thread itself? Doesn't it all disappear when you delete the thread?

All you can delete is the original note OR its content (and any of your own posts.)
All that goes is the Original Post … any replies remain until or unless they are deleted by the one who posted them. The title and the name of the Original Poster and the thread remain if there are any undeleted posts.
UNLESS authority steps in wearing their Admin or moderator hat.

The search function is fairly flexible. If you wanted to find all threads started by snsure on the Classic Films board in which anyone mentioned "hitchcock" from 5 jul 2017 through 30 nov 2018, you could do that. Access the search function in the panel near the top of the screen, beneath where it says "Internet Media Discussion Boards".

Unfortunately, they are the most recent threads! In particular, I'm looking for the thread for THE CAINE MUTINY. I remember some excellent and knowledgable posts about both the movie and the novel.
Well...back to page-surfing, I guess!

Yes, tele. Is there an available link to that thread? Is the colour of "Snsurone's Caine Mutiny" in a different colour?, for example blue, just click or double click on it. Maybe a new window will open and show it. If you create a new post there and send it, it will be saved even if you close the new window down, but you must send an eventual new post for it to be saved.
