What are everyone's thoughts on these new alternate professional football leagues (like the Alliance of American Football or the XFL) ?
Personally, I think they are an interesting idea. The NFL kinda stinks anyways. If it wasn't for Tom Brady and the Patriots I probably would have given up watching the NFL years ago. I hope these new leagues find success. I know they don't really have the money for it, but it would be cool if they could lure notable players, like Tebow or Kaepernick, to the leagues.

I wonder if Americans are not left dissatisfied with the quantity of football they see? Let's put it this way - There are a minimum 16 days of action for each team and a few more if they do reach playoffs. I find that far too few. Though I can understand that it is a sport where you have a higher chance of incurring injuries and so you won't expect longer season. But I still feel there should be more football action. Maybe like cricket football should also develop different versions of the sport or something close to that. So that people can see more of it. Although some will say that it will lose its value if it is played more.

Or maybe have NFL league 2 for cities that can't participate in the premier (main) division of NFL.

AAF is fine because feeder system for youth & castoffs. They also got it right with warmer cities, the USFL had to deal with really scuky late winter/early spring weather for fans. It's also good for letting potential young coaches try their hands with greater responsibilities. As long as they keep to that vision, it's fine.
XFL is & forever will be a joke.
CFL isn't American football, there are distinguishable differences in physical attributes to succeed up here. That will keep it alive because undersized receivers & linemen really haven't anywhere else to play pro. Besides, larger field rewards faster more track/athletically inclined players.

They never work but no one ever takes note of this. Everyone whines about teh NFL but the talent level of these leagues is barely at a college level or worse. You already have arena, college, candian and NFL, how many more leagues do we need, especially when everyone knows they wont' last. Why waste the time?
