They could’ve had an awesome new angle with Scream 4 if they’d just have had the balls to stick with it. I Disagree, I actually like "SCREAM 4".
I think that it is a Good, Fun, and Surprising Slasher Movie.
It wasn’t surprising tho. It ended just like every other scream movie ends. I still liked it but the ending drops it down a notch for not committing to Jill winning.

I actually agree with Anthony on this one. The official word before the movie came out was that they were planning a new trilogy centered on Jill with the old generation passing the torch to the new generation, basically "soft rebooting" before that was really a thing, then the movie pulled the rug out with that being Jill's whole villainous motive and all of the new characters dying and old ones living. I know "subverting expectations" is a dirty phrase these days, but that's what Scream has always been about. I will say if they were to make a Scream 5 in 2012-14, it would have been better to go with Jill winning, but since 4 flopped anyway and an immediate 5 was never in the cards, I'm glad they went with the ending they did.

I know that a majority of "SCREAM" Fans did not expect it to be Jill (Emma Roberts).
Wes Craven, Kevin Williamson, and Emma Roberts all did a really GREAT Job at keeping the Suspicion off of her before she finally revealed herself.

Same universe, same characters, same ghost face, new vibe!
The original Scream was radical, it was something that felt completely new and fresh while knowing what it was, the sequels became lame Wes Craven, Kevin Williamson and I guess Ehren Krueger (is that his name) misunderstood what it was people liked about Scream in the first place. Yes, Scream is a deconstruction of the slasher movie, yes, it's meta, yes, it's self aware...but when I was 12 years old watching Scream on VHS tape I didn't think the movie was cool because it's a "deconstruction", I thought it was cool because it felt real, and raw, and radical. And not in the mid-2000's Jason Bourne shaky cam gritty reality type of realness, but a realness in the characters. I looked at the upper classmen in school and saw the Sidney Prescotts, the Tatums, the Stu's, the Billy's, the Randy's. They weren't caricatures like in Friday the 13th or Nighmare on Elm Street, they were talented young people playing cool, multidimensional characters. And they totally clash with their environment, everything else about the movie feels picturesque, the houses, the town square, even the high school looks like it could've changed it's name from Rydell High to Woodsboro High a week before...And I haven't even mentioned the last act yet, the killers reveal which essentially predicts the average American high school mass shooter. It felt radical in 1995, and it feels haunting in 2019.
So, if Scream 5 is to be good, stop making the meta nature of Scream be the star, let it fade into the background, let it be the subtext!! Don't try to shoehorn the old characters into a new young world, it didn't work in 2000, or 2010, and it definitely won't work in 2020. Just let the characters exist, let them be cool, real, flawed people in their middle age. Don't try hard to be edgy and cool on page with endless rants about horror tropes, just hire talented people and let them create their characters. We like the characters of the original movie because of the actors performances, not because of the words on page. The sequels became far too overwritten. Hire someone outside the horror world to direct. David Gordon Green did an amazing job with Halloween, I could picture him doing a great Scream movie too, I've got a few other suggestions for director, Matt Spicer, or Greta Gerwig, and the most radical suggestion, James Franco. Shooting a suspenseful kill scene is not the challenging part of making a horror movie, go on youtube and you'll see any 15 year old with a cell phone can remake the shower scene from Psycho, but not many people can create interesting, raw, fun characters.

I used to want another movie, but after Wes Craven died, I no longer really do.
But if he were alive I would have wanted Scream 5. And have it simply be a continuation from 4.

Don't you dare act like you don't know what I'm talking about, asswipe. You've spoiled who the killer(s) are for Scream 4 numerous times, and who the killer(s) are for season 1 of the TV series at least once that I know of. Untagged, and in threads not directly on the topic of Scream. And then when you are called out on it you ignore them and keep doing it. You may have the morons on here fooled but not me. This innocent act you put on does not work on me.

How can you be a Fan of the Franchise and not already know by now who the killers were in them ?

And? That means everyone in the world has watched it by now? That means people who were too young to watch them when they came out have watched it already? People who aren't even born yet that will watch it in the future have watched it already? This is such a shit excuse used by spoilerers like you. There's no expiry date on spoilers, asshole. If you at least posted those spoilers in a Scream related thread, then this dumb excuse might have a better chance of flying, but you posted those spoilers in threads with titles that HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH SCREAM! Someone opens a "Favorite villain GIFs" thread and then sees a GIF off a Ghostface killer taking a mask off and revealing who it is. No warning whatsoever. No spoiler tags. You seriously don't see a problem in that, you stupid fucking WAFFLE? WTF are you talking about dumbass? I am a fan and I do know who the killers were. I saw Scream 4 in theaters on the first day of release and the Scream season 1 finale shortly after airing. This isn't about me, this is about you posting spoilers that people who haven't seen Scream might see. If you had actually spoiled me I'd probably want to kill you rather than just tell you off.

I used to think he was just oblivious or maybe on the spectrum or something, but the way he brown-noses the Admin while completely disregarding other people seems too calculated. I wouldn't count on him to stop shoving spoilers into peoples' faces unless the Admin says something. And I wouldn't count on that, either.

What's the point? Wasn't sort of Wes Craven's idea on this (I could stand to be corrected if I'm mistaken) revolved around playing up a generic faceless killer? This is a story that has, and will be for years to come, been adapted by the author. Calling it "Scream" is more limiting than buying a new Halloween mask and calling it something like 'yelp' or 'bellow.' Screams (no pun intended) cashgrab to me.
