This takes place near the beginning when we see Henry starting his life of crime while he narrates it.
He is a valet for the gangsters parking their caddys. Then sometime during the night, we see him smashing out the windows, pouring gasoline on and in the cars and lights them on fire where they explode. He doesn't explain why he is doing this which is curious. So any ideas why he does this?

Hmmm... maybe the cars belonged to a rival crew? Or collecting insurance money as they do later when burning down the bar?
I’m always fuzzy about this - The guy Jimmy and Henry rough up in Florida has a sister working as the typist for the FBI. This lands them in jail... because?
I really need to see this again. Been about two years.

They more or less state immediately before that that he's part of a protection racket. That's what protection rackets do to people who don't pay.
Though he could have been taking out a competitor. After looking it up, that is definitely the case, but I always got the impression it was a protection racket from the film. I guess they don't explain it because it's not really important to the story.

Just a cab company that moved in on Vario's turf. So he is taking out a rival cab company and it has nothing to do with protection money? That's how it went down in real life. Though the larger point in the film is that Hill has completely committed to the mob and fallen into a life of crime. So the particulars aren't that important.

There were parts in that montage that were obvious without narration, like stealing and reselling the cigarettes, and other things he describes. Since blowing up the taxis was not that obvious, it would have been helpful if he had narrated it. To me, that is important. It shows how mean and tough these guys are and the extremes they would go to.

What about "it's alright Spider" scene? Who was at fault?
Talk about taking a misunderstanding way beyond the norm.

Was Jimmy really planning to have Karen killed at that dress store or was she just being paranoid?

Was Jimmy really planning to have Karen killed at that dress store or was she just being paranoid? I don’t know for sure but I think the implication is pretty clear. Jimmy started getting paranoid later in the movie and we already know how he deals with most problems after the Lufthansa Heist.

It’s prob not that important, basically just there to show young Henry gets his hands dirty.

Was Jimmy really planning to have Karen killed at that dress store or was she just being paranoid? I think that is what we are led to believe, the implication being that you have no actual friends in the mafia.
