So I just seen the Gotti with John Travolta. I heard so many negative things about it and many call it one of the worst films of '18. Personally I was pretty mixed on it. I enjoyed Travolta's performance and I was entertained throughout the film but I felt like the film lacked. The film is really all over the place. Especially in the first 20 minutes. It just felt like scene after random scene that really does not come together. Plus I didnt really feel I got to know John Gotti much at all. We get to know him as a gangster but not really the man himself. Basically I found enjoyable things in a very flawed film.
5/10

Another victim of a miscarriage of justice.

Yeah I agree, it wasn't as bad as they were saying, but not all that good either. A 5/10 rating sounds about right. Travolta did a competent enough job, but when all is said and done it was just another Goodfellas wannabe. It was lacking.

Scorsese would have killed with this material.
There were some hilarious outbursts of swearing though.
It was directed by that short guy from Entourage!

Awful movie with an ok performance by Travolta. He needs better directors.

I thought Travolta was awful in this film as he seemed to be playing Gotti as if he stepped out of an SNL parody of Scorsese's mob movies.
Anyway, Gotti's a terrible movie with awful performances, boring characters, sloppy pacing, incoherent editing (more flashbacks and flash-forwards than a Christopher Nolan film!) and it's dreadfully boring. It truly lives up to its rotten reputation.
And the ending where it shows stock footage of supporters claiming Gotti was a great guy who cleaned up the neighborhood and was unfairly persecuted by the government? This guy was a violent mobster who had people killed and broke several laws in the book! It reminded me of Trump and his idiot supporters.

Yeah that stuck me as kinda odd. The guy was a killer. But still I guess that was indeed a part of his legacy.
