Im gonna say Robert Downey Jr as well and he also came back looking sexier hehe.
He was cute in his early career but the new Robert Downey Jr is one of the sexiest actors Right now and I love how good he is at doing both genres drama and comedy very few actors can pull that off

I wasn't even aware McConaughey and Wahlberg had career downfalls. When did this happen?

John Travolta from 1994-1999.
RDJ actually played a handful of good movies from 1995-2006, unlike Travolta.

All of his movies during that period were critical bombs. Plus his craziness in like 98/99 and his arrest for drugs etc... he was considered a mess and a joke that was only cast in rom-coms really after that.

Also, smart career reinventions, like Shatner's smart "in on the joke" things he's done with the snark directed at his acting style and singing efforts. Good call on Travolta, BTW. I hadn't thought of him. I'd be especially interested in hearing about women who have been able to do this. It seems harder for them than for men after their youth has faded.

Mickey Rourke - The Wrestler. His comeback lasted about as long as a fart in the wind.

Mickey Rourke - The Wrestler. His comeback lasted about as long as a fart in the wind. If he had no possible ego could've lasted longer.

Well if we are talking about turnarounds then Hugh Laurie deserves being mentioned. He went from goofy comedian in a bitt of Fry and Laurie to a serious actor in House

Of the guys mentioned,, I would go with Downey
Old Timers. Frank Sinatra was pretty much done for until From Here to Eternity brought him back.
