The Spider-Man cartoon was great until they brought in the pig and the Manga girl, but something had to win and it's better than the other two contenders I saw.
That short film about the dumpling is dreadful, though.

First Man won Best Visual Effects. Well I'll be damned. I was predicting a random choice, but I said Christopher Robin. Oops.

No intro for Gaga and Cooper? That's a surprise.

What is so best and special about First Man's visual effects? Ready Player One had awesome visuals. I don't even get why Black Panther was nominated here. It is up for Best Picture and therefore its effects should have been part of that package, being a Marvel superhero film.

I will say this for tonight's ceremony. There has been a minimal amount of bad or not-so-good moments so far.

The win for First Man feels a bit like when Ex-Machina won....they went for the subtler option, although I didn't have a problem with Ex-Machina winning.

Paul Schrader is a phenomenal writer, up there with Richard Price, David Mamet, Paul Auster, anyone you care to name. Can he win an Oscar?

It certainly hasn't felt like two hours went by. Perhaps they'll give the host thing a break after tonight.
