Bayer already down against Mainz after 3 mins. Really wondering what it'll take for Schmidt to get the sack.
And Leipzig take the lead against Cologne. Forsberg is so good.
E: Bayer two down now.

Bernd Leno comedy show in Leverkusen.
Leipzig front two of Sabitzer and Werner already have Subotic breathing heavily at the heart of the Koln defence and it's only 30 minutes in!

8-0. Still about five minutes to make it double-digits.

I must say I'm getting slightly cheesed off with BT Sport's choice of DFB-Pokal games. Tonight Dortmund, tomorrow Bayern. As always. That said, I will watch tonight's offering. I've never had the (possibly dubious) pleasure of seeing Sportfreunde Lotte before.

Lotte have already knocked out Bayer Leverkusen and Werder Bremen. They're 3rd division, but they shouldn't be underestimated. Reminds me of Bielefeld who also knocked out three 1st division teams two seasons ago.

Indeed, I've just discovered that. And have learned a new word in the process - "abgesagt". God help me, I'm now forced to watch Hamilton vs Aberdeen instead.

DFB Cup update: Bayern just beat Schalke 3-0 at home and advance to the semifinals. Earlier today Gladbach beat HSV 2-1, and yesterday Eintracht Frankfurt beat 2nd division Arminia Bielefeld. The postponed Sportfreunde Lotte - BVB match is scheduled for March 14th.
It looks like Hecking really got Gladbach back on track.
As for Bayern under Ancelotti: They were underwhelming in the first half of the season but for the last weeks, it looks like the Bayern train has picked up speed. Earlier this season Carlo said that if the team had played 100 percent in fall there would be trouble in March/April when it matters most. Maybe he was right; at least the slump after the winter break that was noticable under Guardiola in the last three season doesn't seem to happen. Maybe a team can't play at 120 percent intensity over a whole season. Maybe it's better to play 80-90 percent in the first half and look underwhelming and put in the 110-120 percent performances when it matters. I'm more -optimistic for them to win the CL than in the three seasons under Pep.
DFB cup semifinal draw:
Bayern München - Lotte or Dortmund (if Lotte manage to eliminate Dortmund, it will be in Lotte) Gladbach - Frankfurt

I'll pre-empt the next update from OP by saying Roger Schmidt of Leverkusen has been dismissed, replaced by Martin Schmidt of Mainz, though the lack of fight currently embedded in Leverkusen, they should take a flyer on Kevin Großkreutz as player manager.

I think the reason why he hasn't been dismissed is that he has a contract until 2019, hence dismissal would be quite expensive, and there aren't any replacements available who could be confidently considered better (not sure what makes you think that the other Schmidt would be an improvement; Mainz haven't exactly been tearing the trees out this season, and remember the disaster vs. Anderlecht!). There's been some speculation that if Schmidt has to go, Völler and Schade will have to leave, too.
As for Großkreutz, not sure what part of the news has made it to the English media, but I daresay he won't get any job in a German club anytime soon.
E: Volland pulls one back.

Dortmund 6-2 Leverkusen FT. Surely that has to be the end of the era Schmidt now, contract until 2019 or not.

Tongue in cheek comment regarding Großkreutz. There was an article in the Guardian regarding his 'altercation' and subsequent termination of contract with immediate effect from VFB Stuttgart.
As for the other Scmidt in Mainz..think it's rather harsh saying he wouldn't be an improvement as he has had the rug pulled from his feet this season with key departures through the spine of his Mainz first eleven. Given the resources available at Leverkusen, he couldn't do any worse than what has been happening the whole season.

Tongue in cheek comment regarding Großkreutz. There was an article in the Guardian regarding his 'altercation' and subsequent termination of contract with immediate effect from VFB Stuttgart. Well, the "altercation" was the innocuous part of the problem. He went to a mardi-gras party with a bunch of minors, including some youth players from the VfB Stuttgart boarding school, spent like four thousand EUR at a Stuttgart discotheque, then went all drunk to the Stuttgart red light district and apparently took them to a brothel. Thereafter they got into a brawl in the streets at 2:15 o'clock in the morning. VfB Stuttgart take pride in their youth academy and attempt to recruit talent from all over the world. Not all parents fancy their kids being taken on a booze-cruise complete with a visit to a brothel by a senior player, and then getting beaten up in the streets in the middle of the night.
