I don't have a point. I am not selling anything. If anything, I am defending my right to believe what I want, to those who vehemently protest my right to choose what I believe. No-one, least of all me has ever said that. Look back to the beginning of the thread to our conversations for proof. It was just when you changed tack going beyond your personal belief that things got sticky and then you got all in denial.

It is the notion behind the belief itself and how practical and valid it actually is. No belief is real, especially one you can't possibly prove, and even if it seems real for the beholder it isn't really, because it is just thought. Take away the stringing of words in your head forming the belief and then what is there?

While such a rationale might lead someone to profess belief in God and act like he believes in God, it's not an argument for the actual existence of God. So it does nothing to bring anyone to genuine belief. I have never argued that God exist. And nobody should because there is no proof. In other words, there may be no God. That rationale is to why someone should believe. Not that there is a God. There is no proof of extraterrestrial life, but a fair argument can be made for its existence. And those who believe it exists should certainly argue their case (even as they recognize that there may be no such life). And those who believe in God, and think they have a fair argument for God's existence, should likewise make their case (even recognizing there may be no God). But this "cost/benefit rationale" is no argument why someone should believe. It can only make someone wish that a good argument for why they should believe existed (so that they may be persuaded, and thus reap the benefit).
