This was said about the Australian womens soccer team which had its popular and well-performing head coach fired 3 months from the World Cup, where the team (ranked #6) is (was) considered to have a real chance to win, and speculating on how the new coach is going to whip the team into line.
Does that saying mean anything except that men are fueled by testosterone and women like to have hugs and communicate?
Watching mens teams with their biff, compared to womens teams where they do lots of hugs even with the opposite team, there could be a level of camaraderie there that goes against any kill spirit they should have as elite athletes.
Or does the womens attitude foster teamwork vs Messi style ego?

Its just evolutionary instincts. Men have always been more competitive and driven because our ancestors had to behave the same way and many animals still do. Look at the animal kingdom, pretty much every male species have fights between the top males in the same groups to determine the alpha male who gets rights to things like female mating and food resources. Females have evolved to show empathy, males have evolved to show competitivness

It's a clever little turn of phrase, but I am not sure that it reflects reality (or even of what it is supposed to mean, really). "Feel good when they win" surely applies equally to both men and women; "win when they feel good" isn't true for either sex, as "feeling good" is obviously not a guarantee that you will win anything. What IS true is that if you DON'T feel good, your chances of winning are greatly diminished - but that goes for men too, not just women. There are plenty of examples of sportsmen having a mental breakdown and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
