There's so much pedophilia in the Catholic Church because the Catholic Church is a perfect opportunity for a predator to gain the trust of the congregation and prey on the kids. Same for cub/boy scout leaders, sports coaches of youth sports teams, etc. Put some mandatory systematic safeguards in place because there will always be lazy and over-trusting parents. You are correct in your reasoning. Unfortunately, certain people who have an agenda against homosexuality cannot understand that. Any relation where people have a power on others automatically increases the chances of preying on people. It's just sad that the predators use their powers to the detriments of victims. Many of the people who target boys and girls do it irrespective of their sexual orientation. It all gets back to power. And those that sit atop a lofty perch are hesitant to make decisions that would safeguard the innocent because it would also make people think twice about where they're bringing their children and why. In the end once you gain power you will always find a way to justify decisions that keep your precious safe, even if children are getting raped down below the supple boughs.
