2 of the big guns of this years Oscars, both looked like they were in with a chance for the top prize but it wasn't to be. Also the only 2 of the nominees I managed to see.
Which do you prefer?
I liked both but pretty easily Roma for me. The cinematography sealed the deal.

The Favourite. Roma looked pretty with powerful moments but had limited emotional engagement and barely any character development.
There were three or four Best Picture contenders last year which I'd pick over any of this year's batch.

Maybe it's just me, but when I see the name "Roma" I keep thinking of the Al Pacino character from Glengarry Glenn Ross.

I thought Roma was pretty good, but I liked The Favourite a lot more.

They were also my top two picks of the nominees (though my actual top movie of the year was First Man, which wasn't nominated). I think I'd give Roma a slight edge only because I really didn't like the ending of The Favourite, which was sort of WTF?!.

I didn't see First Man, but I hope to soon. I quite liked the ending of The Favourite, it continued the directors tradition of seemingly arbitrary endings.

I haven't seen Roma and this is part of the reason it doesn't appeal to me. I have heard many similar comments. Impressive technical feats do not a good movie make.

I haven't seen The Favorite yet, but Roma while it looked incredibly beautiful was very dull.

Roma for me, a cinematic feast.
I'm no prude, but I wasn't ready for Queen Anne's lesbian romps in The Favourite beforehand. I had no idea! But it was a fun movie, really laughed at some of the inventive curse words.

I just watched The Favorite and my God what a horrible annoying mess that was. Terrible sound track and camera work, irritating characters and just plain Boring. The only Good thing was the acting by Coleman, Stonen and Weisz.
Bleh. so Yeah Roma all the way in this Poll.
