Various news agencies and media outlets are saying that many Syrian refugees are returning to Syria after years of fleeing war. BBC reported that several thousand people pass through Jaber border of Jordan every day since the border was opened last October. Russian news agency Tass claims that over 220,000 Syrian refugees have returned to their places of the previous residence in recent times. The Turkish government has also reported that over 300,000 Syrian refugees have returned to Syria with the help of the Turkish military. Maybe some of these claims may be exaggerated but there is reasonable evidence to conclude that life in Syria has started to improve lately.
BBC has claimed that a lot of those who are returning are small merchants looking for trade opportunities. I believe this is a very encouraging news as return of traders will help a lot in normalizing life in the country. I know a lot still needs to be done but I am happy that things have started to look encouraging and there is hope. Syrian crisis is definitely one of the most tragic stories of our lifetime. I hope things improve more and more.
Note: I have posted this thread here in GD as I see this news as a humanitarian issue rather than political.

Certainly nothing positive has come from the U.S. meddling in Iraq. The American government is solely responsible for upsetting the entire region. The world would be far better off if Saddam Hussein was still in power.

The living standards and quality of life took a massive plunge. Not to forget the people who died and their loved ones. The same was true about Libya. Let's just hope we do not see more military interventions in the future. Let's just hope the rebuilding process takes a new path and things get better.

Thousands died and billions of dollars were wasted and for what? Now Trump and Kim are in Hanoi for a summit. The families of soldiers killed in the 1960's must be wondering why their children died. Now the U.S. President is hobnobbing in Hanoi. Despicable people.
