Andy Griffith, A Face in the Crowd (1957). Anyone who is familiar only with Griffith's folksy persona on his TV shows will find his performance in this movie jarring, but very well done. The movie itself is a must-see, still-relevant classic, too.

Well, Johnny Depp starred in the horror classic A Nightmare on Elm Street. It clearly wasn't his best role, but it was arguably the best film he ever appeared in. And yes I am biased, but everyone is.

Quentin Tarantino - Reservoir Dogs. And this is strictly speaking on him as an actor.

John Cazale - The Godfather This. In fact ALL of his movies in his incredibly short career were outstanding.

Captain Jack Sparrow was his greatest role IMO. And the first two Pirates movies were excellent. Of course, NOES outclasses both.
