We all know that Mike Trout is the best player on the planet right now, it's not even really close, but to be fair, Trout is earning north of $34m this year and next year before hitting FA, while Harper is earning $27.5 and Machado is getting $32m. When Trout's time comes, he will earn even more than what he's getting now.
As to WAR, people on this board don't like when you talk like that, but even I, as a newly-minted proponent of advanced statistics, hates WAR. WAR tells me that Daric Barton was better than Mark Teixeira in 2010 because Barton had a bunch of walks. Tristam yesterday mentioned that Jean Segura's WAR was higher than Harper's (which it was, by a lot), which to me invalidates WAR altogether.
Rant over.

How about this. From 2012-2018 not including injury shortened 2017 I’ll cherry pick the worst season stats from the whole range and make a season from those numbers.
Games - 139 Runs - 101 Hits - 147 2b - 24 3b - 4 HR - 27 RBI - 79 SB - 11 BB - 67 BA - .287 OBP - .377 SLG - .550 OPS - .939 TB - 296 WAR - 7.6
Not a bad season of just his worst numbers.

From my original understanding, WAR was mostly useful to compare historical players over historical eras. There has been eras that were more offensive dominated (late 20's-early 30's, late 80's) and some were pitching dominated (60's). Is this batting line good? .301 BA, 23 HR, 74 RBI, 162 H, 119 BB Meh, right. No Mario Mendoza, but its no biggie. But that was Carl Yastrzemski in 1968. Then you have the 1930 Phillies. Every regular hit over .280, two players (Lefty O'Doul and Chuck Klein), hit over .380. But the Phils lost 102 games. Why, because every team was putting up numbers like that. WAR was more useful for comparing Lefty O'Doul in 1930 to Yaz in 1968. Not Bryce harper in 2018 to Mike Trout in 2018 BTW Yaz - 8.2 WAR, O'Doul - 4.6

I would offer him 11 years, $555 million.
The Angels might actually be lining up to offer him part ownership of the franchise. That's not hyperbole.

Mike Trout WAR 2012-2018: 64.0. Manny Machado & Bryce Harper WAR 2012-2018 COMBINED: 60.9. I'd rather have JP Crawford.
