You don't say
In Australia disney has bought out an entire theatre that will show only captain marvel. people would no longer have a choice but to watch captain marvel the whole week. lol
Same goes in some places in USA, the ONLY movie ticket you can preorder on Fandango on March 8 is in fact Captain Marvel. No other movie ticket can be purchased from the site on March 8. you dont say
Disney is about collapse in on itself.

International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8 every year, interesting...

It's true. Some dude in a Mickey Mouse costume broke into my home and put a gun to my head until I pre-ordered a Captain Marvel ticket. Then he lit my Batman comics on fire and screamed "Hail liberal politics!" It was weird.

How are they forcing people to watch Captain Marvel ?
Are they going to hold a gun to peoples head forcing them to go to the theater and watch it ?

When was the last time mcu let the merit of their movie speak for itself?

Pretty sure you can watch movies other places than the theater.

How are they forcing people to watch Captain Marvel ? Are they going to hold a gun to peoples head forcing them to go to the theater and watch it ? well don't forget. Not Everybody is up on what's happening in the movie world on the internet, a lot of people on the weekend say hey let's go to the movies and when they get there say "ok let's see what's playing?" If there is only one choice in a way it is kind of forcing people.

That's not forcing anyone, you can choose not to go or watch something at many of the other available cinemas. However I think Harmless elf has a point. A lot of people still enjoy going to the movies for the cinema experience, a lot of casual cinema users go "just to see to a movie". If this is someone's local/preferred cinema it is a little presumptuous and inconvenient. Maybe book out 6 of of an 8 theatre complex but leave one or two other options. At least it's not a weekend though.

They're not "forcing", but they are becoming a megagiant that can heavily influence what movies people watch. I doubt it will ever happen, but imagine if all the major studios got subsidized into one huge studio monopoly and just put out nothing but blockbuster superhero and Star Wars films.

Maybe the phrasing of the OP is confusing me but if Disney bought out the theater how do they make money on tickets then? Or is it just that they had them fill all their screens with nothing but Captain Marvel? Seems a bit overboard, surely a few people would want to see the Madea movie or something heh.

Then he lit my Batman comics on fire and screamed "Hail liberal politics!" It was weird. I was abducted by armed feminazis and sent to a feminist re-education camp for three weeks when I mentioned in passing to a female friend that I thought I'd wait until the movie gets released on DVD before seeing it. A fellow inmate told one of the guards that he thought Brie Larson looks 'hot'. We haven't heard from him since.

I doubt it will ever happen, but imagine if all the major studios got subsidized into one huge studio monopoly and just put out nothing but blockbuster superhero and Star Wars films. It's been moving in that direction since the 70s. The blockbuster destroyed the smaller independent movie companies. A reduction in variety. It would be like a beverage company buying all the other beverage companies and then cutting their products. This does not happen because beverages are not seen as message delivery systems the way art is. The owners of media only see movies as ways to convey social engineering messages. They also know that if they kill competition, then people have to watch their stuff more than not, since there isn't other options, or it isn't convenient to watch obscure things. Big Hollywood has always been monopoly-focused. Thus the reason United Artists came about. But today even UA is absorbed by one of the conglomerates.
