For the most part, I only see teen and adult LGBTQ characters. If people are born with various sexual orientations and sexual identities, wouldn't it make sense for Hollywood to show more of these characters as children in movies and TV shows?

I think Hollywood has already started doing this , AudioSane . The Fosters , Sex Education , Subject to Change , Butterfly and Girl are trying to address those questions of queer orientation in young and early teen people . There are probably some more I have not mentioned that are available too .

Regularly? Because there are so many of them in the first place. Nice to know Hollywood is going to think a six yr old can have a sexual orientation in the first place. Creepy.

Don't particularly care one way or the other. It would be a bit weird to see a gay six year old, as I'd expect no six year olds know if they're gay or not. But at the end of the day... no, I have no craps to give.

By the time I finished 5th grade at the age of 11, the number of girls grew to at least half a dozen.

I know examples already exist, but it's not yet a common thing.

How is there already so many of them? You mean a handful of examples with kids between the ages of 6-12? Is it creepy for a six year old to be attracted to the opposite gender?

That sentence was meant to be sarcastic but I see I wasn't clear enough on that. Obviously there aren't that many either represented or in real life.
As for the other I find it scary that there is a continuing push to sexualize children. Six year olds aren't attracted to anyone they are six.

"That sentence was meant to be sarcastic but I see I wasn't clear enough on that."All right. "As for the other I find it scary that there is a continuing push to sexualize children. Six year olds aren't attracted to anyone they are six."I don't know about you, but I found myself attracted to a girl in my kindergarten class when I was six. By the time I left the 5th grade at the age of 11, I had liked at least 4-6 girls. A lot of kids I knew back then expressed interest in the opposite gender, so why on earth are you talking about sexualizing children?

That's a possibility. Just because we see a child in a movie or TV show exploring their interest in others doesn't mean it will remain that way.

Why would someone sexualize a 6 year old anyway? That is sick.

I fear that if it becomes a regular thing, it'll quickly become a cliché. Hell, it could probably be a cliché the first time they try it out. While a child's situation will be different than a teen's or an adult's, the plot points could be too similar. Of course that a movie/show can still be good if it transcends the clichés (LOVE SIMON being the most recent example).
Another thing to consider is the point of view. Usually, the best LGBT stories are those based on personal experiences and/or those where the storyteller is able to place themselves in the situation and empathise. That can be harder if the main character is a child.

Some kids do have mild crushes at early ages, in grade school. It's nothing to be alarmed about.

only if done with the right care as well. "Ma Vie En Rose' is about a sweet little boy who identifies as a girl. He's about 8 years old in the movie, and his sexuality is not going to be explored. It's a lovely movie with only a bit of politicizing. I adored this sensitive, tender hearted little movie. I do, however, this is shameful and hypocritical that this completely inoffensive movie was given an 'R' rating.
