I know there are already too many of those to keep track of (seriously, I don’t see why there needs to be one for the Predator franchise), but it seems like the Sony Universe of Marvel Characters (SUMC) is gaining traction right now.

It just seems like if there’s a separate board for the X-Men films, there might as well be one for the franchise that started with Venom, considering that it currently has no ties to the MCU.

I admittedly know next to nothing about all these 'universes,' but it seems to me that Marvel characters do indeed have ties to the Marvel universe.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe refers to a very specific franchise that’s owned by Disney and Marvel Studios. The Sony Universe of Marvel Characters (SUMC), at the moment refers specifically to a franchise owned by Sony that Marvel Studios has no input in. I know that might seem arbitrary, but again, given that there’s a separate thread for the X-Men films (which are also based on a Marvel property), I figured this was a question worth asking.

It's not a precedent. In other words, just because 'ABC' has a board, it doesn't mean 'XYZ' gets one. Personally, I think there are still too many boards here. It's been a constant battle since day one. This forum is still based on IMDb's General Boards; the specific movie boards are the exceptions, not the rule.

In that case, you can probably afford to get rid of some of the boards over at “Popular Movie Franchises”.
