I love how an 83% is somehow bad reception for this movie when most DCEU films would kill for that. Most reviews say the character is awesome and Brie does an amazing job, but the movie itself is just okay. I am fine with that I guess. Right? It's insane.

I have to ask..how dumb are some of you mcu fans or is it denial to the truth.
what the 83% shows is the clear critical bias. the content of reviews are all awful. the 83% most say the movie is formulaic and generic. that is why it is been brought up, people are mocking the score because we know it is a sham and if it was DC it will be in the 40s
how can you mcu fans not get this memo..nah its denial.

I don't think you know what bias means exactly.

Once again, you need a short lesson in how the site works. After all of this time, you apparently still do not work. A reviewer giving this movie a 3/5, which a lot of these 'negative' reviews give, is not a bad review. It means they generally like the movie. You are heavily exaggerating. Do not make me post actual reviews on here. Most of them say the movie is good and Brie does a fantastic job. I hear it is a good origin story and Fury is great. The worst reviews say it is formulaic and generic, but those are the worst reviews. A majority of them are more positive that that, hence the 83%. Once again, a DCEU movie would kill for these reviews.

Why did RT take out the average score? That was the way to determine how good the movie is.

I really don't care much for super hero films (haven't for a long time) so I may not be too qualified to answer on this thread, but it seems to me that the genre might be starting to crumble. Unless of course, Black Panther 2 is green lit.

Formulaic, generic, flat out average. They pretty much all say that but in the end give it a good rating. They are giving it a pass

I think about the main thing going for it is it's lead by a female which there are almost no quality Super Hero movies in that regard which kind of helps boost it a bit. but then again Wonder Woman seems to be the clear cut #1 female super hero in general as far as I can tell and there is probably not much past that, that stands out. but who knows, we shall see what the public thinks of Captain Marvel soon enough. but unless it bombs pretty hard, it should still be successful enough I suspect as it seems most super hero movies sell themselves. but being this is a major release and lead by a female... I think that's probably going to garner generally positive reviews among critics because you don't really see decent quality female lead super hero movies in general as you basically got Wonder Woman (2017) and that's about it so far that's of any worth. I kind of assume Captain Marvel won't be as good as Wonder Woman (2017) but it might be okay-ish as given my impression from the trailers it does not look bad by any means but it might not be that great either as I think, just speaking for myself, it should be watchable at the very least (say a 5/10) and at best would be a 6/10 (a mild Thumbs Up). DSDSquaredBut can't people say that super hero movies in general are formulaic? because if they want to claim it's 'generic', fine. but to dis it based on 'formulaic' I think is a so-so argument because the genre as a whole is pretty much formulaic. in the end... I think the movie will hinge on whether people like Brie Larson or not as, at least to my knowledge, that Captain Marvel character is not major enough to sell itself like say Wonder Woman (2017) (and I suspect Gal Gadot is generally more liked than Brie Larson). either way, we shall see what the public things of the movie soon enough.
