I gave Blue Ruin a re watch last night (its currently streaming on Netflix) and can't get over how great it is. Perfectly paced slow burn thriller imo .
Curious to what you folks think of it. And if you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it!

Excellent film. Great deconstruction of revenge movies. I liked it a lot more than Green Room.

For anybody getting tired of revenge movies, here is a take on the genre that you have never seen before. You will NOT come away thinking, "Yeah, I’ve seen this same damn movie dozens of times just with different titles." It is centered on a protagonist who, as far as I can remember, is unique in this kind of film. I hesitate to say much at all about the story for fear of spoilers.

I'll just add that Buzz from Home Alone shows up as a badass. And I will add to that that you can catch Eve Plumb who played Jan on the Brady Bunch firing an automatic weapon.

A well made anti-revenge movie, but it feels like I have seen it all before. It still follows many of the same tired beats as a regular revenge movie, just with a different message and a more unique main character. It still ends with a fucking shootout. It is certainly better than movies like John Wick and Taken though.

I really liked it.
Don't know if you noticed, but the guy who plays his militia/survivalist/whatever friend who helps him out of a rough spot (trying not to spoil anything) also played Buzz ( Kevin's big brother) in Home Alone.

Just watched it and I definitely liked it, a very solid 7/10.
I think what holds it back for me is the visual style. As I said elsewhere, it’s a very sterile and timid look that feels sleek in the moment, but doesn’t do much to elevate the overall experience.
It just lacks the dynamic movement of better-looking movies. Still a good movie, though.
