I'm reading the reviews and I'm getting a lot of different opinions on what Captain Marvel's personality was like in the movies. Some describe it as bland, some say she's stoic, some say she's playful, some even say she's trying to be like RDJ.
So my question is, what do YOU think her personality should be? Don't worry about figuring out what she is in her movie, just tell me what you'd have preferred her personality to be?
Snarky but charismatic like Tony Stark? Earnest and decisive like Steve Rogers? Timid but smart like Banner? Forceful but somewhat clueless like Thor? Unsure but powerful like Scarlet Witch? Serious and intense like Black Panther? Mysterious and flirtatious like Black Widow? Sarcastic but wise like Dr. Strange? Tough but goofy like Starlord? Serene but uncompromising like Vision? Funny but sincere like Spiderman? Rigid and no-nonsense like Nebula?
A combination of a few of them maybe?

I hope in the future we get a female character who's like a woman version of Scott Lang or Peter Quill.

Earnest and decisive like Steve Rogers This, but a little more...bold. Not sure how to put it. She's a fighter pilot in the film so that kind of says it all. To paraphrase the old saying, "Never ask someone if they're a fighter pilot. If they were they would've told you already, and if they aren't why embarrass them?"

So like Rogers but a bit more assertive and with a stronger personality? I could see that.

Confident almost to the point of arrogance, but not so much as to be unlikeable.

I can go along with all of these... add a little acerbic dry wit.

I wonder though... we get our ideas about what a fighter pilot is like from movies like Top Gun where they're brash flyboys. But is that reality? Look at the guy that landed the plane in the Hudson, Sullenberger(?). The most modest humble guy ever.
So because she's a fighter pilot she has to be a female version of Maverick from Top Gun? Not necessarily.

I've met a few in real life (Dad was an Airmen). What I can tell when they are with civilians they are humble, polite, and reserved. When they are with buddies straight up crazy.

Look at Bucky Barnes in 1st Avenger, then Winter Soldier.
Isn't it the same thing?
Both Bucky & Carol have had their brains wiped & something else inserted. Widow learned to fake it to play a million roles as a spy. Bucky & Carol not so much.
How often does Bucky smile in Winter Soldiee as the present day version in the movie?
Pretty direct & emotionless other than pain.

Maverick is a bit over the top, I was thinking a shade below that. Supremely confident but not a total asshat. The brash pilot cliché on its own would be too similar to Stark, there needs to be some nuance there. Carol seems to respect authority more than Maverick ever would.

I want her to be feminine. Not a bro-Dudette like RDJ, not a machoman like Thor or stoic like Rogers.
Basically make her like Wonder woman. Embrace the positive traits of femininity instead of going for the cringey "i dont need no man" persona.

Embrace the positive traits of femininity instead of going for the cringey "i dont need no man" persona. I'd take it a step farther and say I just want her to be a good character. No need to 'write her like a man' or 'write her like a woman.'

Shuri isn't quite as goofy and likeable as Quill or Lang. Close but not quite. Maybe if they made Darcy less annoying and promoted her to a lead character.

The brash pilot cliché on its own would be too similar to Stark, there needs to be some nuance there. Carol seems to respect authority more than Maverick ever would. She seems the type that wanted to be a fighter pilot from when she was a kid. If she took anything from Stark it would be that cockiness and wanting that rush from flying. I can see her being mostly like Cap with a dash of Stark. Maybe a little like Will Smith's character in ID4.
