...the way she's responded. Whereas Daisy Ridley and Kelly Marie Tran eventually grew exasperated and quit Instagram rather than deal with a never-ending stream of hate from the MRA crowd (and I have no doubt that knowing that they'd driven them off social media gave the trolls much pleasure), Brie just keeps in living her best life and posting like normal.

Never understood that noxious element from such 'criticisms'. Why barrage the actor/actress in question if it's just displeasure with the movie, not the person. What they did to Tran was abominable.

Consider this... Do Daisy Ridley and Kelly Tran still get the same level of hate they got at that time? No. Because things pass! And this will pass too.
In any case the actresses all end up laughing their asses off anyway because they get to go on making movies and hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars. Brie Larson already even has an Oscar! What do they care what a bunch of nobodies who already paid to see their movie have to say?
All the morons talking poo poo are going to be at the theatre THIS VERY WEEKEND watching the movie they've been poo pooing! The whole thing is a silly circus.

Have you seen the audience score for Supergirl? They have a long memory against actual girlpower stuff. I love Supergirl. It is so affirming. I don't recall any problems when I was a child in the 60s because horrible female models were the norm. I have the Thor comic where Jane Foster fantasies about ironing Thor's cape & polishing Mjolnir in her wedded bliss dream. Stan Lee abandoned her because she was hopeless & went with Sif which is why it was an insult to use her to identity theft Thor. Wonder Woman isn't offensive because off her isle of women, she is surrounded by guys helping her do the job. She was created by a man to be the ultimate woman. A guy fantasy of the perfect woman hero. I found it hard to find good female role models for my daughter. Remember when Disney decided they were abandoning Princess movies? Did you notice? disneyprincessrecovery.blogspot.com/2010/11/disney-will-stop-making-princess-movies.html?m=1www.yahoo.com/entertainment/bp/disney-stop-making-princess-movies-because-boys-think-050207663.htmlYeah, they reversed it eventually, but yeah. You see why I have issues over how women are portrayed? My daughter loved Anastasia & Prince of Egypt. I found the Tzipporah doll we bought her still boxed (think my husband decided to hide it & forgot about it) So, yeah. We'll see if they calm down. They seem to be able to keep it going. Heaven forbid they find this www.yahoo.com/entertainment/captain-marvel-star-samuel-l-152140195.htmlSo he is supporting her. How is offering some of the people from the back of the room a chance at the front a bad thing? .

The Tran thing is understandable--she was in a hugely marketed movie and she allowed herself to be accessible. Even if .01 % of the public contacted her to express their disapproval, that equals hundreds if not thousands. Even a couple of dozen nasty hate mail would be bad, especially if she did not get much positive fan mail-which is likely the case. It's Disney and Johnson's fault for putting her in the movie--but if she had a better grasp on how she was perceived, she would not be surprised. Most people do not consider a movie to be the equivalent of the Special Olympics--they expect merit. Disney chose to make a product without much merit-then mass marketed it, then complained people threw rotten vegetables at the stage. Maybe they should try to improve their quality.

Agreed, and this is coming from someone who thought her character was one of the worst in the history of film.
