I'm surprised the match is on, it has been teaming down all morning where I live! Oz were looking well set for 330, then Finch got his hundred then promptly got out and now they have collapsed to 259-6 (3 overs to go) Maxwell has to hang around. When he fires it’s a big total for Australia.

Can't say I feel overly confident for England, we can no doubt bottle it.

Now three wickets down. Brits don’t know how to play cricket. You’re supposed to score runs, not lose wickets. That’s what Aussies do.

Not over yet. 52/3 after 13 chasing 286, and England do bat deep. There is few better sights in cricket than left arm quicks swinging the ball down the line to right handers.

Might as well start the recriminations now. 1. I think Bayless is gone. 2. Can England please put James Vince's career on the NFR pile? I'd compare his constant droppings and then reselections to Graeme Hick's except it would be an insult to Hick who was a pretty decent ODI batsman. 3. Idiotic dismissal by Bairstow. 4. Time to find a new captain. Morgsn's not the man to take you to 2023. 5. Winning the toss and bowling in a must win game put the underperforming England attack under pressure. While they fought back well to limit Australia to 285, that was always too much for a jittery England batting line up to chase.

117/4 - Am I watching a different game ? England still well in this. It’s only 7 an over. Buttler could do it on his own....
Anyways, must sleep (1:40am grr)
We’ll see who’s won in the morning. I have it Australia 55-England 45.....

What is happening with England? If Bangladesh wins against Pakistan or India then England would need to have 1 victory in their remaining 2 tough matches.
I think Australia should be considered the outright fav now. I wouldn't like to see Aus take 6th world cup title. Let NZ or England win it.

into the overrated english tail now. Well you are sort of right, mainly because they are carrying Ali's batting. Ultimately they have missed Roy and once again Vince fails - regardless of getting a beautiful ball today - he simply hasn't got the brain to match the talent. Clearly if Root falls cheaply it seems to affect the rest of the team, which will most likely be the case in The Ashes as well. They saw the overcast conditions and chose to bowl and bowled shite, England have to bat first in this tournament any dope can see that. It will be a travesty if England get through now. Time for me to root for The Kiwis, my each way wager the only crumb of comfort now!

It's like I said a couple of days ago bob, there are two Englands: the one we've seen the past 3 3/4 years who would get into and out of worse situations than the one they were in last night seemingly for fun and the one in this tournament who crumbles at the slightest hint of pressure. It's nothing to do with pitches or players or opponents. It's 100% mental. They're not winning again in this tournament. Whether they make the semis or not is up to Bangladesh.
Unfortunately this leaves us with an inevitable India v Australia final with an almost as inevitable 6th WC for Australia. A tourney that promised and produced plenty of surprises in the esrly stages is heading down a boreishly well trodden path.

Unfortunately this leaves us with an inevitable India v Australia final with an almost as inevitable 6th WC for Australia. A tourney that promised and produced plenty of surprises in the esrly stages is heading down a boreishly well trodden path. Having just seen the highlights, you’re right. The brains aren’t matching the muscle for England at the moment. A lot of those shots look like cooked minds. Once again, England are picking all Rounders who are failing in both departments. Moeen Ali is easily the most overrated cricketer in my lifetime - even I as a critic thought he had turned a corner, but he batted 9 and batted like it and bowled pies. Woakes at least bowled alright. Buttler is either a 1,2 or 7 and Stokes a 6 or 8. They got too cute and now it’s falling apart. Australia - all smiles, except Khawaja after a good start is a liability. Eventually either Warner or Finch will get a good one early and Khawaja can bat long - but coming in at the 30th over, Khawaja (and Marsh) look completely lost.
