I want to see if they would cover an Akhlaq like situation in Kerala where anti alcohol vigilantes go around thursting themselves. The lack of coverage to death of RSS and BJP workers in Kannur and Kasargod is well known.

the murder of BJP and RSS workers in kerala has so much prominence in social media. the victimization of right wing hindus in kerala is now the popular narrative.

I think that Tharoor quote nailed the reason why the liquor ban came into being in Kerala and how is that statement anti-left? The communists are probably the only group that hasn't vocally supported the move.

and madhya pradesh is heading towards prohibition. its begun folks. is this the first BJP ruled state to implement prohibition? remember that the prohibition in gujarat was implemented by the congress party (as a tribute to gandhi, if i'm not wrong) and its only ruled by the BJP now.

Protests in several parts of Madhya Pradesh against liquor shops have prompted CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan to reiterate that the state would impose prohibition by gradually shutting down all liquor shops.

State Finance Minister Jayant Malaiya had told The Indian Express last week that the state can impose prohibition only from next year because shops for the period from April 1, 2017, to April 30, 2018, have already been auctioned.

At a meeting in Neemkheda village of Narsinghpur district on Sunday, Chouhan said the state will begin a de-addiction drive. “In the first phase, shops within 5 km of the Narmada have been closed. Now shops near educational institutions, residential areas and religious places will be closed down and then prohibition will be imposed,’’ he said.

While announcing the excise policy for the current financial year, the state government had focussed on de-addiction rather than suddenly imposing prohibition. In addition to the restrictions along highways, imposed by the Supreme Court, the state government removed shops near the Narmada.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Tuesday said that his government will soon implement alcohol ban in the state, reported CNN-News18. Singh’s announcement is reportedly influenced by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Singh, who is on a two-day tour of Bihar, met Kumar at the latter’s residence in Patna on Tuesday morning.

The ban will be put in place in a phased manner. “Prohibition will be imposed first in villages in Chhattisgarh having population of 3,000 and more,” said the chief minister, according to India Today.

Just a few days ago, Goa's Water Resources Minister Vinod Palyekar demanded a ban on drug-ridden rave parties on beaches in the coastal state. He had alleged that the coast is infested with the sale and trafficking of drugs and there is absolutely no control over it.

"These parties are against our culture. We need to stop them immediately," Mr Palyekar had stressed and claimed that the police were not doing their job well.
