Dude, and you have to understand. I own comics. I love superheroes. But man, I'm so damn burned out on this sh**.
Like, I saw an arthouse film yesterday and it felt so good to watch something not CGi and generic.
Like, I preferred DC over Marvel the past few years because at least it was different. MCU films are the same film with different actors and characters.
I'll watch "The Kid" (2019) with a 57% Rotten Tomatoes score over Captain Marvel this weekend. It has Chris Pratt and Ethan Hawke and it's a Western.

You're not the first person to say that. However, it isn't the most predominant genre. It just feels that way because of all the exposure. Every year, there are around 500 new releases, out of which less than 10 are super-hero movies.

Yeah, but a lot of the big budget blockbusters (the ones Hollywood pushes the most) are super hero films. Look at the sales from last year, 6 out of the 10 highest grossing were superhero films: www.the-numbers.com/market/2018/top-grossing-movies

They're not going anywhere so get used to them. You don't have to watch them.

If you want them to stop than you are going to have to convince a lot of people to stop going to them. As long as they continue to make a lot of money - be "tentpoles" - the movies that finance all the other movies from that studio - they will continue to be made. BTW, I was tired of them even before they got started good.

It's also that the media companies (internet and traditional) will not talk about films which are not approved by the corporations so if there is something interesting by an unknown company chances are you won't hear about it (which means--difficulty to make a return on investment, which means less likely to get more of them). It's bad when the only genre film the corporations will give any kind of marketing help is along the lines of THE MEG-a Chinese production about a big shark.

While I am fine with more movies based on comics, I am tired of the MCU shared thing where all the plots were forced to converge.
After Endgame I have no intentions of taking that kind of movie journey again.

It's not easy to find the films that feel like they're made by filmmakers instead of product made by profiteers.

As long as they're unique and well crafted its fine. But they arent. The only really interesting ones in recent years have been Infinity War, Logan and Deadpool 2. The rest are the same recycled film tropes with weightless CGI and usual quippy comedy to give the illusion of entertainment. Blame Disney, who will soon own a bigger slice of the market with acquisition of Fox and continue pumping out cookie cuter processed product for brainless masses to salivate ovr.

After Endgame I have no intentions of taking that kind of movie journey again. Why? What's wrong with that? First off, I don't think it's necessary. Comic books for the longest time managed to be in a shared universe with stand alone stories. I know crossovers are more common now but that doesn't really make comic books better. Likewise, the movie counterparts could easily survive as standalones since there's no real indication people want crossover events overall. This one MCU story is fine, but a repeat of it with different people? I'll wait for video and just watch the ones I'm truly interested in. And while I like team ups such as Thor and Hulk, I don;t like the notion of seeing movies just for small snippets that link to a bigger one anymore. With the exceptions of the Captain America movies, I don't find repeat viewings enjoyable. The more I watch them, the more identical they all seem.

Join the crowd. I used to be a comic book geek but that was a long time ago.... I sold or discarded most of my collection about 20 years ago. I watched a few of the early films in the "MCU" but got bored quickly. The ones I actually still like are the ones made back when they had extremely low budget like the 1990 Captain America. Of course I still like the Rocketeer, the Shadow, and the Phantom, those early '90s films that were non MCU or DC were a lot of fun and had unique stories. I still love the '89 Batman too. I just can't get into the CGI love fests that make up the super hero films of today. But, I'm glad they make money and hopefully finance films that otherwise might not get released, although Disney doesn't release anything that isn't a cash grab IMHO.

But like dude, it’s okay because you can choose to ignore them. I get the idea that they’re formulaic and the same, but let’s face it, most types of movies are.

Can definitely see where the OP is coming from . They have really taken over. When it comes to the MCU , I'll be seeing Endgame cause I want to see how they kill Thanos and which of the Avengers will die . After I see that movie , I'm most likely done with the MCU . Don't care about Captain Marvel , Black Panther or Spiderboy at all so I won't be checking out those sequels .

Watch whatever you want, but watching something just because it's not something else is weak.
