First Viewings...
nothing this week
Re-watches...
-The Bank Job (2008) (Mar 4th 2019) - 5/10 (was a 7/10. basically this was solid for me for years but it no longer holds up to warrant future re-watches)
-Hostiles (2017-2018) (Mar 5th 2019) - 7.5-8/10 (within my Top 98 movies. this is my 2nd viewing as it was a 7/10 on my initial viewing. it's Bale's #1 movie/performance and is currently my #1 movie of 2018 as it will probably remain my #1 movie of 2018 at this point as The Mule (2018) is the only movie I have yet to see that could be solid but after that I am pretty much done with 2018 movies)
-The Devil's Advocate (1997) (Mar 5th 2019) - 7.5-8/10 (within my Top 98 movies)
-Locke (2013-2014) (Mar 7th 2019) - 6/10 (this is my 3rd viewing and it dropped off this time around as it was a 7/10 on my first two viewings. still, I like it overall.)
-The Rover (2014) (Mar 10th 2019) - 6/10 (this is my 3rd viewing and it dropped off this time around as it was a 7/10 on my first two viewings. still, I like it overall.)
p.s. in general for me... 5/10 or less = Thumbs Down. 6/10 or higher = Thumbs Up.
-----------------------------------------------
OP's...
-Captain Marvel (2019) - NS (but I may or may not see this one. but I suspect ill eventually see it)
-The Fugitive (1993) - 5/10

I loved the narration, actually. I like Ryan O'Neal too in the role. You should check out Kanal too. I actually got to see it because I saw a clip of Martin Scorsese raving about it, glad I did. nice, ill add that to my list as well Have you seen the Duelists? Cool . Ridley Scott's first movie. I did. I liked it. It is kind of similar to Barry Lyndon, in a way.

Cool . Ridley Scott's first movie. I did. I liked it. It is kind of similar to Barry Lyndon, in a way. Yeah they are similar but I like the duelists, it’s stunning to look at but I also could get into the story more I found Barry Lyndon really absorbing. I had seen it before, ages ago, I remembered loving it, but not much else. Yes, it's more than 3 hours long but it didn't seem too long to me. But I can see that people might find it hard to get into. I also loved the cynical satire vibe it has. And the final duel scene, it really blew me away. But, I did like The Duelists. Keith Carradine was great in it.

Hi!
That sucks for Captain MArvel.
The fugitive: Oh yeah, classic. 8/10
Might give After life a look someday.
My last 2 weeks:
Week 1
Broken Horse (2015 DVD): I expected nothing special about this one, I just have a friend who told me it was good. I have to say that I was surprised by a story we’ve seen quite a few times before but told in a unique and atmospheric fashion. The final 20 minutes was especially astonishing. 7/10
The science of sleep (2006 DVD): The night I finished Mood indigo (last week’s 9.5/10) I immediately ordered this one and was anxious to see if. I did enjoy it but it did not hit me on a level like the other Gondry film did. Still, very quirky and fun but I find it strange that they used a Spanish actor and a French actress (two actors I like a lot btw) to make an English movie. 7/10
Megamind (2010 TV): We missed the first 15 minutes but my kids and I all enjoyed it. Good family movie. 7/10
Week 2
Isle of dogs (2018 DVD): What a wonderful, beautiful film with a great story, good characters, and a cool soundtrack that was. And it’s funny too. Dry, sly humour. Loved it. 8-8.5/10
Fist Fight (2017 NETFLIX): I’m an “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” fan and I’m a rapper so the Ice Cube/Charlie Day match was a win-win for me. The joke (story) got a bit old pretty quick, I must admit but fortunately, a nice cast of side-characters brought life to this joint. I laughed but in the end, it’s nothing more than an average comedy. 6/10
Birth of a nation (2016 TV): What a weird movie to review; it is at time masterpiece material and at other times it looks like a DTV-movie. The actors could be nominated for an Oscar at times and for a Razzie at others. The story of a slave rebelling was awesome and the cinematography was great but again, this movie was really uneven. It has more pros than cons though. 7/10
Assassination (“Amsal” 2015 Blu-ray): “While Korea is occupied by the Japanese Army in 1933, the resistance plans to kill the Japanese Commander. But their plan is threatened by a traitor within their group.” Pros: Nice cinematography, good cast, cool gunfights and a few interesting ideas in the plot. Cons: Too many characters and not enough development for each one of them, story is convoluted at times, some scenes were superfluous and it takes itself a bit too seriously for my taste. Let the bullets fly was better. My rating: 6.5/10
Happy Feet (2006 TV): We enjoyed this fun and beautiful movie but I will say something I never said before though: I was slightly bothered by some heavily-handed messages in the story. I usually frown upon that kind of phrase but there it is, I said it. Otherwise, the characters were mostly all good and the music was tolerable. 7/10

The Fugitive - 8/10 First Time Viewings:
Syriana (2005, Stephen Gaghan) This one is well made and has solid performances, but the story failed to really pull me in. Definitely has its moments though. 6/10
Cinderella Man (2005, Ron Howard) Well made and well acted movie that's based on a true story. 7/10
10 Things I Hate About You (1999, Gil Junger) A charming, funny, and entertaining high school movie. The cast is quite good too, especially Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger. 7/10
The French Lieutenant's Woman (1981, Karel Reisz) This one could have been better given the storyline, but I still liked it overall. Well made and Jeremy Irons and Meryl Streep put in some strong work. 7/10
Clueless (1995, Amy Heckerling) Pretty funny and entertaining, with memorable characters and a good cast to play them. 7/10
Silkwood (1983, Mike Nichols) Drags a bit at times, but tells an interesting story and has some very good moments. Meryl Streep is really good in the lead role. 7/10
Educating Rita (1983, Lewis Gilbert) The story is solid, but the film is carried by the two leads. Julie Walters is terrific here and Michael Caine turns in one of his best performances too. 7/10
The Hurt Locker (2008, Kathryn Bigelow) This one is well acted and has some very good sequences scattered throughout. Some parts didn't do much for me though and the cinematography annoyed me at times. 6.5/10
The Devil Wears Prada (2006, David Frankel) I found this one pretty enjoyable. Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt are good and Meryl Streep steals the show. 7/10
Lords of Dogtown (2005, Catherine Hardwicke) Heath Ledger's performance and character were really the only one's to stand out in this movie. He was very good, but the rest of the cast and characters just kind of blended together and I didn't care that much about them. 5.5/10
Monster's Ball (2001, Marc Forster) I liked this one for the most part, but felt it kind of fizzled out in the last act and the conclusion left me unsatisfied. Billy Bob Thornton and Halle Berry are both very good though. 6.5/10
Repeat Viewings:
Batman Begins (2005, Christopher Nolan) Terrific origin story with a great score, a strong cast, and lots of great scenes. 9/10
The Dark Knight (2008, Christopher Nolan) My last few viewings of this one I didn't like it as much as I once did, but this time it jumped up and reclaimed my top superhero spot from Batman Begins. The score is amazing, Heath Ledger gives maybe my favorite performance of all time, and it tells a great story full of brilliant moments. 9.5/10
The Dark Knight Rises (2012, Christopher Nolan) A flawed final chapter, but still very good overall. Another excellent score, an awesome main villain, and a strong emotional core help this one overcome some of its problems. Easily the weakest of the trilogy, but I still like it a lot. 8/10
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007, Andrew Dominik) I really liked this the first time I saw it, but I loved it this time. So many great scenes in this one and Casey Affleck and Brad Pitt are both damn good. The cinematography is absolutely stunning and it has a great score too. 9/10
Terms of Endearment (1983, James L. Brooks) A very good family drama with memorable characters, a strong script, and a very good cast. 8/10
The Man Who Wasn't There (2001, Coen Brothers) Liked this one a bit more this time. Billy Bob Thornton is really good and the supporting cast is strong. The black and white cinematography is excellent, it has good music, and the story is well written and has some nice twists along the way. 8/10

I laughed but in the end, it’s nothing more than an average comedy. 6/10 Birth of a nation (2016 TV): What a weird movie to review; it is at time masterpiece material and at other times it looks like a DTV-movie. The actors could be nominated for an Oscar at times and for a Razzie at others. The story of a slave rebelling was awesome and the cinematography was great but again, this movie was really uneven. It has more pros than cons though. 7/10 Assassination (“Amsal” 2015 Blu-ray): “While Korea is occupied by the Japanese Army in 1933, the resistance plans to kill the Japanese Commander. My rating: 6.5/10 Happy Feet (2006 TV): We enjoyed this fun and beautiful movie but I will say something I never said before though: I was slightly bothered by some heavily-handed messages in the story. I usually frown upon that kind of phrase but there it is, I said it. Otherwise, the characters were mostly all good and the music was tolerable. 7/10 Megamind - pretty fun. 7/10 Isle of Dogs - I enjoyed it. I agree about the soundtrack. 7/10 Happy Feet - 7/10

The length isn’t an issue most of the films in my top 20 are around 3 hours but the pacing and the tone were not for me Yeah, not an issue for me either. It depends on the film. Are you on Letterbox'd billy?
