...was just answered by Captain Marvel's $455 million global opening weekend. Why am I posting this on the SW board? Because the "alpha males" who boycotted Captain Marvel are largely the same ones who have been boycotting SW. After Solo underperformed the neckbeards convinced themselves that they had real power. The fact that their boycotts of TFW and TLJ didn't stop these movie from making billions of dollars didn't make them stop to question whether Solo flopping might have had little to do with them. They really thought they mattered. So with Captain Marvel that literally used an identical playbook: dozens of videos explaining how Captain Marvel was catering to feminazis and SJWs, invading comments sections, accusing every who had good things to say of being shills, calling box office projections fake news, spreading lies ("Brie Larson said white men aren't allowed to see the movie!!!"), accused critics of either being paid for good reviews or being afraid of giving bad reviews, trolled audience ratings, etc., and none of it mattered. Solo flopped, yes, but it had nothing to do with the bros on YouTube who do nothing but whine incessantly about being victims like the triggered snowflakes they accuse others of being.

So how much did Brie’s dumb comments cost Disney? More than what they’d be willing to give up. Expect Disney to investigate ways to make sure this doesn’t happen again, maybe by extensive vetting of talent based on their prior social media accounts and other headline-making extremist comments.
If it cost them even 100m, they’ll want to stop it from happening again.

There was no boycott of TFA or TLJ. The fake news media using two tweets of boycott as a basis of some widespread boycott is misguided and wrong.
But all these articles are just clickbait. 10 angry people online are not a boycott.
