His Holiness has said quite a lot about animals, including confirmation that their souls also return to Christ... I have a friend, an Evangelical, that grieves because she believes that they won't be in Paradise. I will pass this on to her. Your friend is welcome to join us by the way. We're not big on all that Old Testament stuff her fundos try and adhere to... We are more in to Jesus, Mary, and the Saints. But hey, if she is in to rituals, us Catholics have it nailed. 👍

there is absolutely not one shred of verifiable evidence that a soul exists. now, there exists centuries of wishful thinking and countless market strategies that promote the existence of a soul. and most if not all come back to gleaning profits from pandering to pedantic push overs. said the whiny weakling trying to convince the big bully not to beat him up again, cause he doesn't have a soul and doesn't feel it, but the big bully doesn't buy it, does he? You even got the market strategies wrong. Big business hates the idea of people believing they have souls and free choice. Have you ever been right about anything?

It's all about the money, according to John McClane! LOL! John McClane: So that's is what this is about, Hans? A fucking robbery? Hans Gruber: Put down the gun. John McClane: Why'd you have to nuke the whole building, Hans? Hans Gruber: Well, when you steal $600, you can just disappear. When you steal 600 million, they will find you, unless they think you're already dead.

Father Jack
Do Not share your beer, please! Dennis isn't allowed to share my cider... He just likes to sit with me on the porch when I'm drinking. He looks out at the world as if to say "Father Jack is my homie, I dare ya". He's a big softie though our Dennis... He learned his lesson when he had a run in with our May (house rabbit), and she kicked his ass 🐰

Our May is a very cute bun... She is also hard as nails, and gets nothing but earned respect from my dogs and cat.

Alright... Who are the 3 people who said animals don't have souls? Our Dexter isn't very happy with you. You can tell Dexter from me, that he has as much soul as humans. My Luna and Aiden agree.

She is asleep, I tried to wake her up for a pic, but she was a bit bitey and kickey at being woken up... She's the bun in this family montage 👍 will try again tomorrow for you...

Now I, on the other hand, do like the rituals, especially Mass in Latin. I studied Renaissance art history, and do appreciate stained glass and great architecture. If I ever get to come across the pond, I will make St. Bernard's a stop on the journey. Do they have a pipe organ? I learned to play one Bach fugue on a pipe organ, while I was a Lutheran years ago, in college.

I've thought about getting two or three, for eggs, they would have plenty of free range on my 4 acres and eat up all the bugs. But I've got a fairly large vet bill right now, and feed bill for the cats, dogs, bunny and goats (my organic weed-eaters), so I'll wait on the chickens. I've also thought about goats for their hair, to spin into yarn, but the price on those goats are pretty high. I miss having a horse; my mare died about 14 years ago, but I have a friend with a horse that I can brush and groom and hug. I love their smell! Every Christmas, my dad and I would take a warm bran mash out to the barn for the horses. I was a member of the Pony Club, and my old gelding was a hunter. I showed him in hunt seat for a few years as a junior, but then he just got to graze in the pasture for the rest of his life, happy as a duck. He lived a long, good horse life.

No, I don't have chickens right now. Some time ago I took in half a dozen rescued battery hens, converted a shed for them, and gave them free range of the garden. That's just a pic of one of them in a collage. Both the dogs there have also passed on. Bless them, they were very good girls. Dennis, May, and Holly the snake are still with me.

So, to bring the theological debate over here where it belongs, the question, to me, is not 'do animals have souls?' but 'are animal souls immortal?' Yes, I am an agnostic atheist, I believe that when we die, there is no afterlife. But does a soul have to be immortal? Just because I do not believe that there is a creator or a god, does that mean no one has a soul? I might get roasted for daring to state that I think every sentient being has a soul, given my atheism. But how different is a soul and sentience? Since, as a fellow agnostic atheist I don't believe on 'souls', I say that neither humans nor animals have 'souls'. However if you have been reading any of my posts on consciousness, you will have read of my evolutionary theory of consciousness, with it increasing in complexity towards the end point (so far) of human consciousness. I do believe that on a sliding scale for complexity of brain function, that animals are both sentient and have a certain level of consciousness. Like you I adore animals, have an emotional connection with them. I have loved many almost as my children and have fond memories of those that I have loved, and admired many from afar. IMHO they are functionally the same because to me a soul implies life after death, and I don't believe that is possible. How stupid. And you believe that because you worship materialism and the incomplete studies of fallible humans. Science has not been set on any one theory since its inception. Even your pal Faustus has admitted science is not 100% set on any given study or theory. So to hang your hat on a 'study' is nothing short of idiocy, IMO.
