www.baltimoresun.com/sports/orioles/bs-sp-chris-davis-is-driving-up-crazy-20190309-story.htmlThis would be a great time to remember the training camp mantra of former Ravens head coach Brian Billick: Never fall in love with a guy in shorts. Orioles fans want to fall in love with this young team and it might seem like keeping veterans such as Davis, Mark Trumbo and starting pitchers Alex Cobb and Andrew Cashner might detract from the enjoyment of watching the young prospects develop.

He can not be worse this year. I think it would actually be impossible for him to be any worse. His numbers from last year are straight nightmare fuel.

If they had Hanigan and JP Crawford, it's not a question of them winning the WS; it's merely just a question of what team would serve as the sacrificial lambs that has to suffer the indignity of the inevitable 4-game sweep.

Nice little single....off Drew Hutchinson, a journeyman destined for AAA this year. What's the plan for him? Looks like he's starting the year as the DH. Over/under on how long before he gets benched?

He could be suspended by the league, but it wouldn't automatically void his contract, unless he had that specific clause in his contract. Sometimes, not often, athletes have what are commonly referred to as "granny clauses" in their contract, which is when the person engages in conduct that a reasonable person would deem to be inappropriate and unbecoming of said person and/or his organization (I'm paraphrasing and simplifying), then that organization can terminate the contract for Cause. It's very common in licensing deals so if, let's say, Davis had a Nike deal and he got busted for steroids, Nike would have easy contractual grounds to terminate the deal. It's not as common in the underlying player contract, but it does happen, but even if it's there, teams may not always be willing to pull the trigger on that type of clause for one reason or another. I like the outside the box thinking though!!

Holy fuck. You hear "I could do as well as that bum" from fans. But each and every one of us, even me, could match "Crashed" Davis' numbers. When is it time to quit wasting a roster space on this choad and pay him $23,000,000 a year to stay at home and watch Jerry Springer?

Chris Davis is looking worse so far. Saw a bit of the Jays series this week. He's getting sympathy pats for hard hit balls. That's borderline tragic with all the money he's raking in. He could quit the game right now because of stuff like that... taking up roster space better suited for someone who can consistently hit a MLB baseball.

He could quit the game right now because of stuff like that... taking up roster space better suited for someone who can consistently hit a MLB baseball. Who would walk away from that much money? I've heard people say about overpaid/underperforming athletes "I'd be embarrassed to take that much money for sucking. I'd retire." Bullshit. No one walks away from 90 million.
He got busted for amphetamines in 2014 (I think). Always wondered if it wasn't more than amphetamines. His career kind of has the "no more roids" trajectory. The wheels came off at age 30, it's happened before. Of he just figured "Fuck it, I got mine." and quit trying. Whatever he reason, this is not the type of player you want on a team facing a lengthy rebuild. You need veterans on a garbage team like the O's to mentor the rooks, but a rally killing doofus like Davis has no place. What's he going to do, mentor kids on how to hit .000? He is a lighting rod, I guess. However bad someone is doing, he's not the worst player and won't get the worst boos and press.
