How... how'd the boycott go? Did it work?

How... how'd the boycott go? Did it work? It was never going to. The point is for people to make a noise loud enough for D$sney to hear. They heard. And that's why Captain Marvel is getting a sequel.

And that's why Captain Marvel is getting a sequel. And if they do make a sequel, do you think they will allow Brie Larson to run her mouth during the press tour? No. I'm sure they'll put one of those Hannibal Lector masks on her.

If her dumb comments did not hurt this movie (which they obviously didn't) why would they stop her from talking the next time?

If her dumb comments did not hurt this movie (which they obviously didn't) why would they stop her from talking the next time? D$sney wanting to avoid unnecessary controversy in the wake of losing most of their main characters and all the good will that goes with them in Engame? If they are looking to rebuild then surely they would want to do that from a position of strength and not from a festering sore? That "festering sore" is breaking box office records.

That "festering sore" is breaking box office records. Yeah., my bad, you're totally right, D$sney are totally behind her. That's why they hired a terrified soy boy to conduct that damage limitation interview video. back at ya.

I actually asked around at work and two birthday parties I went to over the weekend. Nobody outside the internet that I've met so far even knows there's a thing about Brie Larson.
Even as a matter of logic, no matter how good or bad the movie is, if you haven't seen it then how do you know anybody who's reviewed it is telling the truth about it?

You understand that I said "D$sney heard," and not "general audiences heard," right? Of course. The question is if it failed to make noise with general audiences what makes you think it got all the way to Disney?

Of course. The question is if it failed to make noise with general audiences what makes you think it got all the way to Disney? Erm, the soy boy damage limation interview they paid for.....that's a good start. Then there's the 10,000 shill press articles accusing anyone against the movie of being a sexist troll. You know these big companies employ people to keep an eye on social media and the press, right? You think RT would have altered their site and Youtube would have altered their search algorithm for Brie Larson and demonitized a number of videos who expressed a dessenting voice, unprompted? Trying to take your word for it, but at a glance my answer is what damage limitation interview? I was still hoping for something outside the internet because that was the crux of my empirical evidence: being at work and talking to people on the outside. Are any of these 10,000-ish articles posted in real newspapers or magazines?
It seems like the bottom dollar was never affected. Let me ask something, have you actually seen the movie?

The point I was making is that D£sney are fully aware of the furore surrounding Brie Larson's comments. They took action to limit the damage. I have never suggested that general audiences knew anything/much about this so why do you keep bringing them up? General audiences don't give a shit about movie news and reviews. That is very clear. Whether or not I have seen the movie is irrelevant to any of the points I am making. If the noise failed to take off with general audiences, then I fail to understand how it would get as far as Disney. If general audiences were really turned off and voted with their wallets by not seeing the movie, Disney would hear that. If general audiences don't give a shit about movie news and reviews then on whose behalf is Disney taking steps to limit the damage?
It might be relevant if you're on the side of the boycott but also watched the movie. It would mean the boycott wasn't enough to keep you away. If you haven't watched it, then it's consistent with being on the side of the boycott but it also means you can't agree or disagree with opinions, comments and reviews about the movie. Well, you can, but it wouldn't be informed.

I guess they were on damage control in case things got any bigger or maybe just to be on the safe side. I don't know, I am not D$sney. The point is, steps were taken.
I haven't seen the movie. With the possible exception of Endgame (and I'm not even certain about that at this moment - if it was released next week, I wouldn't be watching that either), I will never watch another movie with obnoxious harpy in again. The prospect of watching her in literally anything, even a Youtube video, makes me feel a bit sick. I have a genuine Pavlovian response to the thought of watching her smug, over privileged, whiny face. It isn't even a case of not wanting to make an effort to watch the movie or pay the money. I have a yearly theater pass and I could also watch the pirate version online after clicking a few buttons.
Her wooden face with sly smirk was really off putting during the movie. Im done after Infinity War, just hope she doesn't steal too much of the screentime and lets the OGs have a good send off

That's fair enough for me. There's plenty of faces of people I don't like and reflexively just can't be bothered to give a shit about. I don't have it with her specifically, but it's a frame of mind I understand. If you don't like her then forcing yourself to watch her in anything is probably akin to hurting yourself.
Trying to think of the Pavlovian response and it doesn't ring a bell. Just kidding. It's all good man.

Why did they have to get Jake Gyllenhaal?

Jake Gyllnhal was bound to be cast in a superhero movie sooner or later, Im struggling to name more than a few premiere Hollywood actors that havent had an appearance in the genre. Youl end up seeing Tom Hanks as an Eternal soon enough

Jason Statham is also a critic. Jodie Foster's quite critical. Mel Gibson too I think. I know Hugo Weaving and Christian Bale both said never again. Natalie Portman also I think said never again after Thor 2.
Tom Hanks as an Eternal, huh. If it happens, I'll always remember where I heard it first.

Do you think McG could get Daniel Day Lewis out of retirement to play Dogwelder? That depends how much they want me to throw my TV out the window.
