Oh yeah, the Cola Wars were hot in the 1980s. Coca-Cola and Pepsi fought each other with no mercy.
Which did you think had the best ads in the 1980s? Coca-Cola? Pepsi? Another soft drink altogether?

I've never seen the Coca-Cola commercials of the 80s so on that one I can't really say, but Pepsi had Michael Jackson, instant win.
Ironically growing up my family only drank Pepsi, Coca-Cola was almost taboo in our home, nobody liked it. I never had one until I was about 12, and then when Vanilla Coke came out, my mom got hooked. And these days you couldn't pay us to drink Pepsi, it's just nasty after Vanilla Coke.

Hate to say it, but Pepsi did with Ray Charles.

I could answer that question if we are talking about the 90s and 00s ads, but the only 80s Pepsi ads I am more familiar with are the ones with Michael Jackson. Same thing with Coca Cola and Selena Quintanilla Perez.

For me, it has to be Pepsi. Michael Jackson and the 'Pepsi generation' is one of my favourite commercials of all time. The commercial also stars a young Alfonso Ribeiro:

This legendary commercial debuted in October of 1979, but gained its fame after airing during Super Bowl XIV in 1980.
