But this may not be a problem given its comparatively smaller budget next to other DC films. It just cost $80M. Btw I love we're in a world where that's considered average.

And I think the $40m opening weekend is on the lower end of the predictions no?

I wont be surprised if that's how it goes. This movie just hasn't been made to seem like a big event movie. In contrast look at how Captain Marvel (MCU) has been promoted. And I don't just mean commercials or trailers. The advantage it'll have is the lower budget.
Quite frankly I hope it is a big hit so the studios can see that you CAN make a big hit without the monster budgets they throw at some of these things. 200 million budgets should not be the norm, but nowadays we don't even bat an eye.

Yeah you’d think Deadpool and Logan might had been a hint.

I agree that spending 200 million on all these films is ridiculous. They should definitely be able to do more for 60-100 million.

Is $80 million really the budget? With the marketing, wouldn’t it be more?

Is $80 million really the budget? With the marketing, wouldn’t it be more? Post production was apparently $100M so might be a tad more now.

Production budget as a rule includes post-production but not marketing. When people say that a movie needs to make twice the budget or whatever to be profitable, the "budget" mentioned never includes marketing.

I can't remember if it was Deadline or Forbes I was reading today, but they already bumped it up to 50+m. I would hunt down the link but I'm too lazy.

If word of mouth is good it may have legs.

Well Box Office Pro have a forecast of $49 million for the weekend and $160 million for the total. Them figuring a 3+ times multiplier for a superhero movie is odd though.

I think the problem is that it got sandwiched between Captain Marvel and Endgame. Had this come out in January or Feb it would have done way better.

Jesus you are in Black Panther and Wonder Woman Territory with 3+ multiplier. They give any reason for it?

I hope not. I like Zachary Levi and hope it’s a hit. Plus it’d be pretty silly if none of the people shouting from the rooftops that DCEU needs to be “lighter” wouldn’t go to see it. I think it looks fun.

No they just adjusted the figure up, but they increased the total to a higher percentage than the weekend.

Not Black Panther territory since Black Panther's multiplier was under 3.
