Why do so many people feel it's impossible for a character to have a change of character or personality at some point in their life? We've seen this happen in real life, for example, with soldiers who went to war and were changed completely by it.
Why do so many people feel that Luke, even though he's human, can't be impacted by age and/or a profoundly impacting family event like with his nephew?
Why do people feel that a character in their sixties should behave and act like they did in their twenties?

Good Points , ck100 ! For me though , the new "trilogy" feels tacked together by Disney.. too predictable for it's continuity of George Lucas' star wars vision.. a lost girl on Jakku (exactly like Tattoine) who happens to have great repressed Force powers . A black stormtrooper guy sees there's more to life than being an imperial thug and wants to help people . The great Jedi , Luke Skywalker is having doubts about his vision , and secretly watches his apprentice when he sleeps , being caught watching . His apprentice consumed by contempt for his master , turns to the dark side , becoming the dark Lord of the Empire , after receiving instructions by the Snoke Head in secret . Our beloved buccaneer , Han Solo , sets himself up to be killed by his wayward son , the Dark Lord . Princess Leia learning of this , drops dead and is replaced , by a computer hologram . Is this all a hoax on us ?

Why do people feel that a character in their sixties should behave and act like they did in their twenties? I know that some people don't behave the same way they did when they were young. But in this case, Luke behaved as if he's a completely different person altogether to the point where he out-of-character. Sure, Luke would've changed after all that's happened with his family. But he wouldn't change to the point where he's horribly unrecognizable in terms of personality.
Even Mark Hamill thought that Luke was out-of-character.

Of course you're excited. You're brainwashed and have no standards. Abrams is a hack. If by smart you mean he's smart at making money, then yes that is very true. He sold out and kissed a lot of ass to get to where he is now. He's a decent director, but he sucks at storytelling. So he needs to stay away from the writers room, unless of course he wants to make bank, which he does, so he will continue writing shit because he knows fools like you will keep rushing out to see them. I don't trust JJ Abrams. And especially after calling fans "sexist" for not liking the new Star Wars films and the new female characters(And what exactly is there to like about characters like Rey, Rose Tico, and Holdo anyway?), I could give two shits about Episode IX. He's nothing more than a Hollywood Yes Man and asskisser now. It's really a shame because they guy has made some great stuff in the past and definitely showed such promise. But he gave that up in favor of $$$ and an attempt of becoming the "Next Spielberg". He will never be. I don't know who those people are apart from Rey. I've only seen The Farce Remakens which was the most disrespectful movie I have ever seen in my life. So there was no point in watching the next ones. As much as I love Mark Hamill, watching the sequel just "to see Luke" was not worth it. I think Disney counted on a lot of people to take that bait in order to get people back to see The Ass'd Jedi but thankfully I resisted.

Call me an asshole, but I feel like hating on the new trilogy is the new hip thing, is it not?

How about put the Star Wars universe to bed and promote quality, real-world original movies?

Call me an asshole, but I feel like hating on the new trilogy is the new hip thing, is it not? Yes, bashing Disney's Star Wars has become fashionable, but IMO, it's deserved and they brought it on themselves.

I actually liked "The Force Awakens" and "Rogue One". But I hated "The Last Jedi". And I hated Lucasfilm's attitude of "Oh no, we didn't make a bad movie; if you didn't like it then you're a bad person."

The only way a Star Wars fan is going to feel the same feelings and get the same experience they had back in 1977 is to watch the Star Wars film from 1977. I don't know why people keep clinging to this false hope of wanting to get the same experience and feelings from 1977 with current and future Star Wars films. That's not going to happen. It doesn't matter how good the current and future films get. Some experiences you just can't duplicate no matter how hard you try. Like with films, some experiences are just a product of their time.

Call me an asshole, but I feel like hating on the new trilogy is the new hip thing, is it not? What in the world are you talking about? People are going out in droves to see this garbage. How is that hate? A handful of nerds hating on "The Last Jedi" on the internet does not make it a big thing. The prequels are the things that the morons are finding hip to hate.

I don't understand why so many people gave The Farce Remakens a free pass and only decided to start hating the series when the Ass'd Jedi came out. Makes no damn sense. jamesbamesy I think you are right with this new trend to hate on Disney Star Wars. But it only happened after TLJ for some reason. Many of these people must just be following the crowd in their hate instead of using their brains. Because if they were using their brains they would have hated it from The Farce Remakens.

It's good that they're finally receiving lots of hate, but I feel it may be for the wrong reasons. That people are hating on them only to be cool and fit in rather than actually recognizing the problems with the movies themselves and coming to their own conclusions that they are bad movies. Still, even though it may feel like they are receiving a lot of hate, it's not nearly enough. Look at the IMDb rating for The Ass'd Jedi. It's 7.2. That's pretty damn high for a movie "everyone hates".
