......a particular uniform number ?? For instance, the number "23" probably makes many people think of Michael Jordan (though younger fans who never got to see him play, might tend to think of LeBron James).  Any examples of players you tend to think of when hearing/thinking of a particular uniform number??  SAVE FERRIS

I always use uniform numbers as a means to remember numbers in real life. Example, if someone gave me a phone number 719-1241, I would think "Mickey Mantle, Johnny Unitas, Jim Kelly, Tom Seaver". Just the first players that pop into my head, I don't think it too much. Doesn't have to be the same player all the time. If I had to remember "4", it could be Bobby Orr, Lou Gehrig, or Brett Favre. And it had to be a player who was known for one and only one number. Can't use Reggie Jackson because he could be #9 (A's) or #44 (Yankees). Long way of saying there are many numbers I associate with players.

The only number that puts one name and one name only into my head is #39. Dominik Hasek. And I can't think of another #39. Even #99 could be Dan Hampton and #66 could be Ray Nitschke

When I hear 23, I think of Shane Warne, so no.
I'm trying to think. Probably weird numbers like 37- Adam Goodes. Shaun Rehn-52.
