Captain Marvel. Both are good and fun but Captain Marvel has better writing.

Captain Marvel by default. It had a lot going against it but the writing is still far superior. It isn't one of the best MCU flicks but I thought Aquaman was godawful.

You're right that Aquaman had higher highs and lower lows whereas CM seemed like a happy middle, but I'm giving Aquaman the lead because it felt like it put in more effort. CM felt a bit lazy. And I feel like in a few years' time, I will find Aquaman more memorable than CM. They're pretty close though. |

You're right that Aquaman had higher highs and lower lows whereas CM seemed like a happy middle, but I'm giving Aquaman the lead because it felt like it put in more effort. CM felt a bit lazy. And I feel like in a few years' time, I will find Aquaman more memorable than CM. They're pretty close though. I will say that 'Aquaman' is either a very good film or a best kind of bad film because negatives of the film DOES provide some unintentional hilarity, which is more than I can say than a film in which a single abysmal aspect brings down the entire film singlehandedly ('Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald', anyone?).

Aquaman is definitely a better movie.
Captain Marvel is just a godawful movie. The writing is lazy and contrived. The first half of the movie keeps jumping from 1 place to another place without any transition at all and is just a disjointed and convoluted mess. Brie Larson's performance is wooden and robotic. And there's no character development or personality to the Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel character.

CM by far, in my opinion. I didn't really like Aquaman. Didn't hate it though; the only DC movie I hate outright is Suicide Squad.

Captain Marvel by a .5 Captain Marvel - 7.5/10 Aquaman - 7/10 I had to look to see what I gave Aquaman 7 also. I LOVE Momoa-so fun, but SO MUCH ELSE was so bad. Why did Atlantis look like Asgard? Why does an UNDERWATER KINGDOM need a bridge? WHO IS GOING TO FIX ALL THOSE VILLAGERS' HOMES? I was genuinely distressed for them all. It was like they were smashing through walls & roofs for fun-"screw you landlubbers!" I couldn't feel ANY sympathy for Black Manta. They were PIRATES. They ruthlessly killed those sailors. What the HELL was the point of the desert? Momoa was the salvation. Mera was annoying I usually like Wilson, but the character was just all pissed off. I loved CM. As soon as it finished, I assigned it a 9 The 2nd time I saw it, it was still a 9. I was in my 20s in the 80s so I related to the female stuff. You dealt with it. It was SoCal. I have lived in SoCal for all but 7 yrs of my life. The feel is very SoCal. YEAH! Son of Coul! Fury! Alien tentacle cat!

Captain Marvel was just your typical generic affair. Lame comedy, lame story, lame action etc.
It was Justice League level crap.
