Let's say you hate 99% of newer movies.. What's the 1% you do you like?

The ones that genuinely focus on telling good quality stories, has good, likeable characters, and in some cases, take the stories in unique directions.

^^^^ and ones that don't just dump you into the story and expect you to know who the people are and what their relationships are to each other.

Ones that don't have "Part #### "in the title or "BlahBlah: The whatever … " Movies that can stand on their own. Movies that are not part of a series that were spawned after the success of the first one which requite you to see ALL of them in order to even remotely understand the story. <deep breath>

I agree, and just hoping to spread some good stuff... There are some people who will NEVER watch something made before they were born, or something in B&W, so it might show certain people the amazing possibilities.

I wouldn't say I "hate" new movies but there aren't too many I would waste my time on. If they are set in historic time periods I'll usually see them, I'm always game for period films, heck I was one of maybe 2 people in the theater to see Gods of Egypt a few years back (and actually kind of liked it).

I keep getting newer films out from the library that sound like they will "fit the bill" …. and then after watching them, wonder why I bothered when I have so many at home to re-watch or to watch for the first time. They just seem to lack ….. something... It's not a matter of "hating" new movies … BUT they are disappointing !

I just wish I didn't use the word "hate"... Even in "real life" I could be talking about something for 5 minutes, and the reply would be "You know, MortSahlFan, you shouldn't really 'hate' anything" (as if everything else is taken literally)
"There Will Be Blood" is a great movie.
