Just once. I was walking down the sidewalk with my mom when I was a kid and a car being chased by a couple cop cars crashed into a fence in front of a Rite-Aid parking lot. The cop cars surrounded the car and the guy got out with his hands up, he had a beer bottle in his hand and his crotch area was wet but I don't know if he spilled the beer or if he pissed himself. The cops shouted "Get on the fucking ground now!" and that was that. We walked down a bit more a minute later and saw a car that he had hit earlier in an entrance to another parking lot.

Once I woke up in the middle of the night with the sounds of shouting and screaming outside. I looked out the window and saw a large group of people (between 10 and 20, I'd say) arguing loudly, looking like they were about to start fighting at any moment. I called 911 and told them what I was seeing. The operator asked me if anybody was carrying any weapons. I replied " Not that I can see". A couple of minutes later three police cruisers showed up, but by that time most of the group had already dispersed. From my window I saw the cops talking to those who had remained. I don't remember if they took them away or if they let them go.

My band was playing a show in a bar when a fight between two women broke out the cops rushed in and tried to cuff one of the women. She was a pretty big lady, probably pushing 350lbs. As the cop was cuffing her she fell backwards on the cop taking him to the ground. There was a huge crack sound followed by the cop screaming bloody murder. The cop's ankle snapped. They had to bring in an ambulance and carry him out on a stretcher.
While all this was going on a guy with a gun walked into a bar about 2 miles down the road and shot some guy killing him. There must have been a full moon that night.

Haven't we all at one time or another? Yeah, exactly what does the OP mean? Most of us or even all of us do see cop cars on the side of the road with lights flashing or when they speed down the street with sirens blaring. I've called them or even had them outside my house one time when they thought a suspect was in a house right next door and I've seen them take away a suspect in handcuffs. Another time they arrested someone, again right next door but when I lived in a different house, and they searched our yard for evidence but didn't tell us they were going to.

There's a courthouse/jail near where I live and I was out running one time and ran by an area where I saw some prisoners picking up garbage by the road with some armed guards nearby. I didn't know there would be prisoners and guards outside doing such a thing at the time, but it was all controlled and I wasn't in any danger. I kept my distance from them. I was just surprised to see such a thing.

Yes, and I actually participated by chasing the offender, getting him to stop until the cop caught up with us.
I was in a parking lot of a store, saw an officer talking to management, and saw a suspect trying to avoid detection moving through the parked cars. I alerted the officer and pursued the now-running suspect, until the cop and vehicle caught up. The officer was alone, he held him at gunpoint, and I stayed in position until backup arrived.
Another time, I went on a night-shift ride along, and our biggest police action that night was herding cattle back into their pasture and fixing the broken fence. Rural cops have a much better job than city ones, lol!
Edit: I've had numerous interactions with my rural sheriff's department, as the stretch of road I live on has numerous accidents, usually at 2 a.m., and I call them once I've confirmed an accident. We've gotten to be pretty good pals, and they keep a watch on my house when I am out of town. This bunch of deputies really is about protecting and serving. I've also had a few trespassers/potential intruders, and the deputies were on it pronto. I'm a widow, alone on a short 4 acres, with no close neighbors, so I'm grateful for their vigilance.

2 houses down 5 cop cars showed up--I think it was a murder but we never found out the details.
I notice a lot of cop sirens lately--a steady increase from 10-20 years ago. But never seen anything on the street nearby.
For a couple of years there was an annual march on the street to protest a teen shot by cops.

Yes. I have seen my cousin arrest people and she doesn't muck around with them. It was very impressive.

The only part of police "action" I haven't witnessed first hand is them firing their guns.
