GoT for me. I love both BB and GOT, but GoT....It's just something else. The greatest story ever told.

There are several characters who are not "morally despicable": Tyrion Lannister Jon Snow Rob Stark Ned Stark Catelyn Stark Brienne of Tarth Davos Seaworth Samwell Tarly There's more, but I've listed enough to make my point. Yes, there are just as many morally despicable characters, but you have to look at the primitive time period. What makes the show great, beside the outstanding acting, is the political conflict and intrigue, everyone trying to outmaneuver the other for control of the realm. I would not recommend you watch House of Cards (another favorite of mine) because just about every character on that show really is "morally despicable" but I love it just the same for the same reasons I said make GOT great. Sounds boring.
I actually watched 3 episodes of House of Cards and that was enough for me.
What sounds boring? Game of Thrones or House of Cards? I'm sorry (and a little surprised) that you didn't like House of Cards. What did you not like about it?

I've seen all of the LOTR films (thanks to a [now ex-]wife), and they bored me to tears. GoT was no better, though I only sat through about half of the first season. Fool me once, etc.

Breaking Bad ; BY FAR!
Game of Thrones is one of the most overrated TV shows in general (i stopped watching it a while ago now) where as Breaking Bad is within my Top 2 shows ever (tied with The Sopranos) as everything else is a distant 3rd basically (for the record... Dexter (2006-2013) would be my #3 spot). Breaking Bad is a very rare gem as TV shows of this quality are next to non-existent.
there is just TOO much going on with Game of Thrones, which makes it harder to follow, as i prefer less but more interesting characters like you get with Breaking Bad where as while Game of Thrones does have some interesting characters there is so much crap going on it's harder to follow everything. but even that harder to follow stuff aside... the general Games of Thrones theme is just not as interesting as Breaking Bad's in general. Game of Thrones did have a decent bit or piece once in a while (as ill say King Joffrey was one of those characters that was a great 'love to hate' kind of character) but it's largely forgettable.
p.s. so for me the gold standard of TV shows is... The Sopranos/Breaking Bad. i don't expect ill find another show that can rival the quality of those two.

Breaking Bad easily . I can't really get into GOT with all the goofy fantasy dragon shit. I do like Dinklage a LOT on GOT but thats pretty much it. Breaking Bad was brilliant from start to finish . Can't say the same for GOT with all its filler episodes.

Top 2 all time. If forced to make a choice id go with GOT due to the enormous cost to make each episode.

Dexter was absolutely terrible after season 4. You can argue it really only had three great seasons. A show like that pales in comparison to Game of Thrones.

If I could still vote I'd give it to BrBa. Probably the closest thing to a flawless show I've seen. I love GOT as well, but there's some messiness, particularly in the 5th and 7th seasons.
