Even though the Movie itself is well over 20 years old now, Does anybody here think that it would be safe to assume that as of today, Elizabeth Berkley is now more Famous and more Recognized for "SHOWGIRLS" than she was before for "SAVED BY THE BELL" ?

Given the amount of popularity this movie’s got on this forum, yeah. No offence.

Nope, as crazy as it sounds, "Saved by the Bell" was a very popular show that was watched by millions and even led to two spinoffs, "Showgirls" was a commercial bomb. You might hear some people argue "It's a misunderstood masterpiece!" on the Internet, but they'r not really representative of the general population. If you were to show random people a picture of Berkley, I guarantee you far more people would recognize her as Jessie Spano.

No more than when people see Taylor Kitsch, they think "oh right, John Carter". More likely, their mind goes to "Oh right, Battleship". And I know he was on Friday Night Lights which is probably the closest to the truth.

She was cantankerous in the SBTB show. Like she was supposed to be a librarian from the 50's only louder.

Yeah, I do remember how Popular that show itself was back when I was a kid but I just mean when it comes to Elizabeth Berkley herself. That being said, I myself don't think that " SHOWGIRLS" is a "misunderstood masterpiece!", I actually think that it is 1 of those very rare types of movies that are just so bad that they are actually enjoyable to watch over and over again.

I was only about a year or two younger than the SBTB cast and I grew up with the show (even the Miss Bliss junior high episodes pre Kelly, Jessie, Slater), so I remember her more for her appearance on that show. She was the over achiever but also someone looking for a "cause." I remember this episode in particular: But yeah, it was my fantasy growing up that at least one of the "bell" girls would show up naked at some point. Jessie didn't let me down in Showgirls. LOL

LOL I think that just about everybody (except myself, seriously!) had a fantasy that one of them would show up naked at some point.
Of course having said that, I do wonder if a majority of them were actually hoping that it would be Tiffani Thiessen.

Didn't we already have this thread just a couple of months ago? Read my OP, I am bringing up a totally different subject about it this time (What Elizabeth Berkley is more famous for as of today) and I do believe that it is a fair topic.

As someone who grew up watching Saved By the Bell and who has never actually watched Showgirls, I'd say there is a case to be made that her role in that film is what seems to come up most often when discussing her acting career. Guess it's due to it being her most famous/infamous film role. Which is a shame really because Jessie was a strong character in Saved By the Bell. Not necessarily all that likeable, mind you, but memorable.

Also, If you ever do watch "SHOWGIRLS" at some point down the road then brace yourself, it is 1 of those kinds of movies that is literally so bad that it is actually jaw dropping!

Elizabeth Berkley in "SHOWGIRLS"
Elizabeth Berkley in "SAVED BY THE BELL"
I remember at the time thinking that it was surprising that she went from one to the other.

Yeah. I've heard of its reputation. It's not exactly high up on my watchlist.
