Inspired choice. I was worried it would be some crappy 20-year-old actor.

Not a bad choice, I'm guessing he'll use a bit of his Joker voice.

Well, not bad. I also think he'll use some Joker in his voice work.

I can't remember the last time Mark Hamill has been so active. Star Wars, Knightfall, Child's Play, etc.

Inspired choice. I was worried it would be some crappy 20-year-old actor. I mean, some crappy 20 year old actor worked out okay for Pennywise, right? A lot of Hamill's villain voicework just sounds like varying inflections of The Joker, and while I love his Joker, I'm worried it might end up distracting as Chucky.

Maybe he’ll try something different. I don’t really care if he does sound like Joker.

If not going with Brad Dourif, which is idiotic, Mark Hamill is a still choice I can get behind.
“What do you think is gonna happen? I’ll whip out a good guy doll and stare down the entire First Order?”

Do you think Hamill can sell a line like "Don't fuck with the Chuck!"?

It wasn't long ago that Mark Hamill did some voice work. Most notably, he voiced Luke again although he doesn't sound like he did in the 1980's.

Mark Hamill is an Excellent Choice!
That said, I wonder what the heck was wrong with asking Brad Dourif to come back and do Chucky's voice again.

Long story short, the remake is owned by a different studio, but the same as the original Child's Play. The sequels were all owned by Universal, whereas here is MGM. Also, I guess Brad didn’t like the idea of a remake so he refused to take any part in it. Also, there’s the upcoming TV show that’ll be following the original franchise, so he’s working on that.

I knew that they're making a TV show based on the original franchise but I didn't know about the other stuff. That's interesting.

Also, there’s the upcoming TV show that’ll be following the original franchise, so he’s working on that. This demonstrates the total madness and creative bankruptcy of Hollywood. A remake AND a tv series? Please, Chucky is not that fantastic a concept--it is well worn--we don't need a tv show and a remake movie. A little variety would be nice.

Hollyweird is so full of greed, they constantly doing the same ole' detrimental crap not even realizing that they're going to eventually lose money.

There's no accountability or caring about reactions at all. What happened to focus groups? Audience test screenings? They have zero interest in public reactions. In fact, when they get criticized, they blame the audiences. Imagine if a small company had that attitude. How could they stay in business? They claim they don't need to worry about it because they make money back through China or something but it sounds like a lot of BS. They have no competition so they don't need to worry about it. If there were dozens of companies offering films with about the same level of advertising they would be sunk.

Brad Dourif's voice IS Chucky. still, ill probably see what they can do with a reboot as hopefully it's still good enough as I like all of the previous Chucky movies.
but being they are doing a remake, and changing the voice etc, I assume that means there is not going to be a 8th Chucky movie and that it's over with the previous seven? (i.e. 1988-2017).

That is true. I wish they had continued the series with more sequels, and there wouldn’t be a remake. But hey it’s still good for the fans that get to see the TV series.
