I might get it if it's casually available. I can't hold my breath there'll be many great third party titles though. Maybe if it's hackable I'll invest.
Then again, there are dozens of titles on my NES & SNES minis (with fav hacks) that I've yet to delve into. I might not have time in my lifetime for Genesis play.

Seriously, how many times is it now that we've had Mega Drive/Genesis compilations? I owned both the PS2 Genesis Collection as well as the Sonic Mega Collection. Dollars to donuts, it's 98% the same library as previous comps.
Why not have a Sega CD collection? or a Saturn Mini?

I actually got myself a Genesis last fall. I'm looking forward to playing games on the actual hardware. I need to get my hands on some of those Phantasy Star games.

I doubt it'll have sonic 3 and knuckles on it. I Don't get it
When I bought the xbox download of Sonic 3 and sonic & Knuckles, I wasn't allowed to buy it on the system, I had to buy it on a computer browser... but I was still allowed to buy them.
it wasn't on that genesis/mega drive collection released for ps4, nintendo switch and xbox one. People keep blaming copyright issues with Michael Jackson doing some of the music...
but I was still able to buy it for my xbox one s... so I don't get it

Amazon pre-orders. After revisiting some more games via emulator, I'll pass. I guess I'm just not much into the Genesis' sights & sounds.

42 games now. Feel a bit tempted to get one now. Tetris is a desert island game for me, could be the one that makes me get it, maybe in the black Friday sales if I spot one www.eurogamer.net/articles/2019-06-04-sega-boosts-mega-drive-mini-games-total-to-42Sonic The Hedgehog Ecco the Dolphin Castlevania: The New Generation Space Harrier 2 Shining Force Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine ToeJam & Earl Comix Zone Altered Beast Gunstar Heroes Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck Thunder Force 3 Super Fantasy Zone Shinobi 3 Streets of Rage 2 Earthworm Jim Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Probotector Landstalker Mega Man: The Wily Wars Street Fighter 2: Special Champion Edition Ghouls 'n Ghosts Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle Story of Thor Golden Axe Phantasy Star 4: The End of the Millennium Sonic The Hedgehog Spinball Vectorman Wonder Boy in Monster World Tetris Darius Road Rash 2 Strider Virtua Fighter 2 Alisia Dragoon Kid Chameleon Monster World IV Eternal Champions Columns Dynamite Headdy Light Crusader

Golden Axe is a classic. Streets of Rage 2 is great. Eternal Champions is a forgotten fighting game. One of the Street Fighter/MK knockoffs that never gained momentum but I remember it fondly.

Thankfully ATgames had nothing to do with this, so it might be good. Most of my favorites such as Streets of Rage 2, Ghouls n Ghosts and Shinobi 3 are on here.
Super Fantasy Zone was a weird inclusion because it was never released in the US, but it looks fun.

As cool as the plug in play systems are I never did buy one. I tried to get my Mom an NES classic but scalpers bought them up and I wasn't paying no BS price for that. I prefer getting myself the original hardware and finding games. I'll admit though thanks to collectors prices have gone way up so the mini systems is a decent legal alternative.

My cousin bought some knock off console that looks like a mini Nintendo and has every SNES, NES, TG-16, Genesis, and Master System game on it. He paid 100 bucks for it. Some of the games play a little wonky but most play fine.
He said you can get other systems games for it like PS1 or N64 but you have to get special controllers.

I used to collect buy, trade and sell old video games. This was back in the day when you could go into any Salvation Army or Goodwill or yardsale and find them for dirt cheap.
But the seriously collectors and speculators really ruined the hobby.
I still like playing some older games but I've gotten to the point where I don't give a shit about owning a physical copy just so I can stick it on a shelf to collect dust. Also modern games are so much better and there's only so much free time. It's hard to go back and play a game like Castlevania or Super Mario Bros after playing Red Dead Redemption or The Last Of US.

Dollars to donuts, it's 98% the same library as previous comps. Why not have a Sega CD collection? or a Saturn Mini? Because the general public doesn't give a shit about Sega CD or the Saturn because most people never owned those systems. These systems are based on nostalgia.
I mean....I owned a Sega CD, I was one of the dummies who got it (as a Christmas gift) when it first came out. And I thought it sucked even back then. I ended up selling it to a friend's older brother a year or so later. It had very few really good games and a lot of the games it did have weren't much better than regular Genesis games, they just had stuff like "FMV" or a few extra features tacked on.
The Saturn was a total flop and while it has some good games not enough people owned one to make a Saturn stand alone mini a big draw. I would imagine Sega would do a compilation of all their consoles before they'd do a stand alone Saturn.
