Lab, we had two of them growing up, a yellow and a black. They learn commands very quickly and if you break them early from jumping on people that's really the only drawback.

We had a German Shepherd also, great dogs.

Worst breed was probably Bassett Hound. Cute as a puppy but when they get older are very stubborn.

From those that I didn't own but met through people I know(knew) Weimaraners, West Highland White Terriers and English Cocker Spaniels were nice looking and fun dogs but the Golden Retriever is still number one.
