It's all about keeping shit in perspective. What is this movie? What is it supposed to be? Is it good for what it is? Is this movie for me? For the record I think it looks fantastic for a children's action movie based on a popular children's TV show. yup i agree.

First Beauty and the Beast and now this... Beauty and the Beast had no gay propaganda. It was just a publicity stunt to get idiots who can't be bothered to actually research something to get outraged (or excited, pick your poison). Congrats on being gullible enough to fall for it....

Just finished watching this and it is surprisngly good. Not great by any means and cheesy at some points but it has a lot of heart and is better than a number of superhero movies out there.

I agree with the above post. It was not a great film and dumb in parts but overall it was entertaining. 6.5/10.

I went in expecting minimal characterization and lots of action.
I left appreciating how MUCH characterization they gave everyone and how they didn't get into the action until the last act.

I thought it was pretty good!
I jumped the gun and went on opening day because I was excited to see another Power Rangers movie since 1995. I was pleasantly surprised. The cast is likeable, Bryan Cranston did a bang up job as usual, Alpha 5 wasn't as terribly annoying as he was on the show, and they did keep some of the cheesiness from the original series.
My only complaint is that they really should have cutback on the CGI. Producers and directors nowadays rely too heavily on it. When they morph, the suits look like something out of Iron Man.
I'm not certain as to why the rating is awfully low on Metacritic. RT can suck a mean one since I don't put much stock into their ratings system after that other film that came out in 2016 was "Certified Fresh".
According to Google, the IMDb score is 7.2. That sounds about right.

I'd say it's definitely no lower than a 6/10. Certainly much better than what I was expecting. I liked that a large chunk of the movie was character development rather than action scenes.

I think they did a pretty good job. They were true to the series and the story, acting, and action were all ok. You can't expect too much going into a Power Rangers movie. Overall, I enjoyed it.

So sad that someone spent over $100 million to make a POS movie, based on a POS Kiddie TV show. Maybe one day in the future, people will learn to read and write again, and be interested in good stories.......NAAAAH!

I rank it higher than the 3 DCEU movies we have so far as well as higher than X-men Apocalypse. And those movies were more expensive if I'm not mistaken.

the whole of the charm of Power Rangers was the Kaiju esque action sequences.
i'll probably check this out eventually but i'm not really invested enough in the franchise to do so early out of morbid curiosity.

Saw it and like many others I thought it was much better than I expected. I really enjoyed it.
The characters were all likable, the origin story was interesting, it was fun and entertaining and I'm looking forward to a sequel.
Rita wasn't too good a villain and I was hoping for more hand to hand combat involving the actual Power Rangers because there was very very little but I can forgive that.
I'd give it a 7/10.

It was surprisingly enjoyable. I was worried for a while that it would end up like 'Fant4stic', but it was actually kind of fun, and seemed to have a surprising amount of passion put into it (Krispy Kreme not withstanding).
I'm kind of rooting for the movie to get a sequel now.

Well it's got a 50% rating on RT right now. Oh, so it's a better film than Batman v Superman?

Speaking of the characters, Jason kind of baffles me in this movie. He goes on and on about Angel Grove being a "bullshit little town" and expresses a desire to leave several times, but continually does things that actively hinder his ability to do so. I actually found myself siding with his father during all their disagreements. Besides that, had he just behaved himself, kept playing football, and let himself be scouted, he could have gone to ANY university anywhere else in the country and never have to return to Angel Grove. Instead, he pulls a REALLY stupid prank, and gets himself injured and under probation. Then he violates that and would have gotten himself killed running from the cops (again) if not for getting blessed with super powers. I spent most of the film wondering why this schmuck was picked to be a Power Ranger. Jason was just the epitome of #whiteguyfirstworldproblems

Not without Green Ranger. I pretty much stopped watching the show after they finished that arc as well (either that, or he was so badass he's all I remember).

But if I try to view it from a rebellious teenager point of view, then Jason's actions make sense. I've seen worse behavior in some teens. Of course then you have the conundrum of why he was chosen as a power ranger? My personal take is that the coins (and Alpha) never really chose these rangers. They just happened to be there and that all this "choosing" mumbo jumbo is just Alpha making up excuses for doing his job poorly.

The opening of the film put me under the impression the coins would obey Zordon's command to find people that are worthy and strong. The current ultimately proved themselves to be both of the above, but boy there was a lot of rough covering the diamonds underneath. I guess I was just expecting more of a young man that's both "worthy and strong."
