The male counterpart to the most overrated female celebrities thread.
As before, I picked some of the most popular names you hear getting thrown around in Hollywood. I tried to stick specifically to those who've been around a bit and have had time to accumulate wealth and name recognition. The only exception I made was for Justin Bieber but included him anyway for how notorious he is despite his young age.
Still, all of these men are very successful at what they do and are (I think) generally considered quite attractive.
Please judge according to talent, personality and attractiveness.

All of these are underrated in my opinion.

Brad Pitt. And this isn't really a slight against Pitt but mainly the aura surrounding him-and I guess Jolie-for millennia.

Having 2 separate gender based "Most over-rated celeb," threads is super sexist. The absence of gender fluid celebs from your lists is also regressive. I have sent screen shots of these threads to Anaheim University for woke people to list in the bibliographies of their dissertations.

People are probably gonna hate me for saying this but I have to say: Dwayne Johnson.
As overrated as others are on this list at least they get called out on their "over ratedness". They still get criticism thrown their way (especially Justin Bieber).
Dwayne Johnson on the other hand... everyone loves the guy. Even me. But I do think he's way overpaid for the roles he plays, especially when majority of his flicks are flops.
So nothing against The Rock, and like I said I do like him, I just think he gets way too much credit for his acting roles.

Not my final answer, but tempted to call out Johnny Depp for not doing something I've had to see in years. It seems like a genuinely long time since he went all out with his talent, which we know he has. It's been even longer since I felt he played a character with real intimidation factor. John Legend didn't impress me greatly when he appeared on The Daily Show a few weeks ago. I thought he was full of himself and smug. He played a song and I immediately knew why he was so full of himself: dude's talented like crazy, no denying that. But I also thought his own song was incredibly safe. I could feel the lyrics coming a mile away. He has the extremely coveted EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award) and I don't know what a single one is for. Terrence Howard, I never liked. Never liked his face, don't trust it. Was glad to see him recast in the MCU. The more MCU movies came into being, the more glad I am it wasn't Terrence Howard in later movies. I just don't see Terrence Howard doing the War Machine story like "boom, you looking for this?".

He was great in Black Mass, though that was 4 years ago now. It was the first time in a long time that I felt like he put any effort into genuine acting as opposed to just goofy hijinks.

I remember wanting to watch it when it came out but I never got around to it. 4 years later I almost forgot all about it.
Thanks.

He was robbed of a Best Actor nod. Depp would have been a great Joker himself I think.

He was robbed of a Best Actor nod. Depp would have been a great Joker himself I think. That would be interesting. He's got the look. I know Jack Sparrow the character is mostly hijinks and giggles but from that, I think Johnny Depp can pull off physically intimidating. The swaying especially and close leaning. I could see him doing really with a character who makes people feel uneasy with his presence.
If there's one thing almost all actors who've played the Joker have in common, it's that I didn't see them playing the Joker until they were. It doesn't seem like an easy role to cast. All but Jared Leto succeeded in my opinion. Tempted though I am to rain fire on Jared Leto for Suicide Squad, at least he tried. Credit where credit is due.

I don't pile on Leto (much) mainly because it was more or less a glorified cameo. So we didn't really get a new interpretation. It was just your usual mugging.
