Thatβs a nice room, but what does 70s have to do with it?

Thatβs a nice room, but what does 70s have to do with it? Click the picture to zoom in on it. You'll notice there's a turntable behind the desk and the two shelving units along the far wall contain what must be hundreds of LP records. I know vinyl is making a comeback, but the audio technology in the photo is a pretty clear indicator it's from the 1970s or 1980s.

alpha128 I too noticed the record albums but that's not just the '70s (looking at the shelves to my left as I type) Nothing else in the room even remotely seems exclusively 70's-ish, imo. Not even the upholstery on the chair !

Not even the upholstery on the chair ! BATouttaheck , I also have a large vinyl collection. but since I haven't had a functional turntable in a long time, when I see vinyl I think "old and obsolete". Of course some people would say that about the audio CDs that I still buy regularly!

alpha128 Vinyl not old and obsolete β¦ turntables becoming very available again. I just got a new one that also plays 78s and copied them to the 'puter and then to a stick so can play them in the car.
just Yahoo.com'd "Decorating a 1970's living room" and tons of images appeared. Ditto for 50's, 60's, 80's etc... basic furniture with changing cushioning in the chairs and couches and different knick-knackery !

most of the whole room is "ageless" (and unused !)
BUT the Christmas Cards are in that basket made from Christmas Cards but they still make those in school so β¦..

The most obvious thing about this room is that there is no cat in the house.

^^^^ and thus no cat hair on the couches or piles of catnip mice under the desk . all of which contributes to that unused (but not strictly 70's0 look
except for that doorknob (and maybe the macramΓ©) .

I hadn't used it in years, and then one day I noticed that the stylus had fallen off the tone arm! But I rebought the best of my vinyl collection on CD some years ago, so there's no real motivation to get my old turntable fixed.

alpha128 If you've replaced the vinyl and need a new home for them β¦. Goodwill takes them and they seem to sell well there. I've been thinning the collection and many of the thrift stores don't want them and I sold ZERO at the yard sale last summer.

Speakers bolted on the wall. 70βs surround sound. Would love to thumb through those albums. Looks like my parents house. I dig it.
