What do you all think about the idea of having all of Billy's foster siblings turn into superheroes at the end? Was it a good idea? Did it work well as executed? Was it too much for the first Shazam! movie? Do you want ot see more of this in the sequels? The movie was a lot of fun. I enjoyed it. But I'm glad you brought up the foster siblings being turned into superheroes...I didn't care for that. It came off as kind of corny. I wanted Shazam to stand alone and defeat the bad guys...didn't need the family being super heroes too. There is just something about it that takes away from what is special about Billy.

I have 2 questions about Sivana:
1. Of all the 7 deadly sins, why does he keep envy in his eye? It's clear that he needs at least 1 deadly sin in his eye, or else he's powerless. Is it just symbolic of his envy towards Billy's pure heart?
2. How does Billy know envy is the only sin not terrorizing his foster siblings? The sins all looked the same to me, with the exception of gluttony.

I don't know about number 2. I need to see it again to remember if they made that clear or not.

I figured #1 was nothing more than a storytelling tool. I thought they was a deeper meaning behind it.

I also thought that it was odd that Billy was chosen for being "pure of heart" and the antithesis of the 7 Deadly Sins, yet when he gets his powers he gives in to lust, gluttony and greed (as well as just plain theft) Maybe this is a misunderstanding on my part but I thought the wizard wasn't sure if Billy was pure of heart but he had no choice but to take a chance on him since he was about to die. Billy therefore was not 100% pure of heart, but he ended up being "pure enough". And maybe the wizard's standards were too high before. But like I say that might be my misunderstanding.

The sins all looked the same to me, with the exception of gluttony. I think there was maybe a bit of guess work on Billy's part. Greed is the one with 4 arms - 4 arms presumably making it easier to take stuff. Lust was fairly clearly the one with the long tongue. Wrath was the one who looked like a bigger Envy and seemed to be angry all the time (Billy mentions this fact specifically). Gluttony was the big fat one. Sloth I think was the one who kept trying to tie Mary up in his tentacles (makes sense Sloth would slow people down). Pride was the one with the wings - being the most stately looking. Billy then could guess Envy was the one missing. Personally I thought it would be cooler if each had had powers relating to their sin and they all seemed a bit weak for things that threaten the whole world. But hey ho it was a fun movie all the same.

Was it too much for the first Shazam! movie? Do you want ot see more of this in the sequels? I thought it was cool, but I also think they should probably have saved it for a future Captain Marvel movie. It would have been a better story arc if he defeated this threat on his own, kept his identity secret from most of his family longer, and only explored this side of Shazam in later movies. In a way I agree with you, Skaathar, but I enjoyed the Shazam! posse too much to complain very much. Especially Darla--I found her adorable in both her identities--and it was great to see the Shazam-ized Freddy taking revenge on the bullies who tormented him...by rescuing their worthless hides! Besides, given DC's track record until fairly recently, maybe the production team was not confident that they would be making later movies. taylorfirst1, heck yeah, I would love to see more of this in the sequels (if such there be; see my note to Skaathar, above)--as long as it's tastefully done. Also, I would not want to see it overused; now that Billy is more comfortable in his super-skin, he should continue to be The Big Red Cheese, working on his own and only enlisting the help of the others if the story really demands it.

Alright kinda pointless to keep the spoiler thread pinned now.
Feel free to openly talk about spoilers.

Billy's mama was a skank! You might have to give her a bit of slack. She was apparently 13 or 14 when she was pregnant.

Yes, but not when he found her later. Billy's mama had serious issues--perhaps chief among them was her ongoing terrible taste in men. When we saw her first, Billy was obviously remembering her fondly, not how she really was, as we were shown later. Billy's lucky to have been abandoned by her, really.
