We’ll see. I feel like these $1 billion movies are becoming more common these days and less of a surprise. Whatever happened to there being a huge film once in a while?

The Lion King has the potential to be a monster. Beauty and the Beast made over $1.2 billion and while that was a very popular movie it was never as popular as The Lion King. We’ll see. I feel like these $1 billion movies are becoming more common these days and less of a surprise. Whatever happened to there being a huge film once in a while? Making $1 billion isn't as significant as it used to be. I remember when Dead Man's Chest was only the third movie ever to make that amount. Now you get 4 or 5 movies a year that'll do it. Really now $1.5 billion is the new $1 billion. |

I think these studios pretty much have a formula now, especially Disney. It seems to working apparently. Not much room for mid budget films anymore, they go straight to Netflix now. Low budget goes straight to DVD.

Lion King won't be 3+ hours long = more showings, more revenue.
